Hi,
My Son went to Boot Camp the 14th of Sept and the only thing I have recieved is his clothing that he left in. They are allowed letters i believe. I still do not have an address. I would suggest calling his or her recruiter. I'm thinking that might help. I Miss my son terrible, but know that this is the greatest opportunity.
I just talked to my Sons recruiter and he had the address. Yea !! Will be writing letters imediatly. Good Luck Moms.
You will first (as you did) receive his clothing and any other personal belonging. You will shortly receive a letter from the Navy on what to expect and which will also give you helpful information. Within that 2 to 3 page letter there are a few lines in which you son will be able to write briefly "I'm ok, etc.." About 3 to 4 weeks into training they are allowed a short phone call home. Shortly, you will receive letters in which you can get his address. We wrote weekly, both my husband and I. My daughter wrote a few times as well. Navy has its procedure and in the meantime, hang tight, I know its hard - I cried for weeks until I hear from him. I cried weeks before he even left. Now that he's at his A school, he has his cell phone and soon computer access for email etc Here is a u tube video regarding boot camp - quite informative. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7GTgx7CXaI ( you may need to copy and paste into your browser. I'm new to this site so bear with me.
Macros 5- Your post is the second one I've read that says we will receive a form letter with information in it. My son left on 9/15, arrived at GL on 9/16. Got the 1 mandatory call at 12:45am on the 17th. The box with all his stuff showed up about a week later. We just got his first 2 letters together on 10/8. Still no form letter from the Navy though, what is that?

When he left I didn't expect to hear from him for a couple weeks so I didn't even start looking for letters until the end of week 2, I know he's not a big letter writer so I was shocked to receive 2 letters at once. I guess he missed his first chance to mail something out to us. I ended up calling his recruiter to get his address and the day after I dropped my first letter to him in the mail his letters showed up.

We were away at our favorite camping spot this past weekend (Columbus Day Weekend) and missed having him with us. BUT, we have a portable printer so we tossed that in with our camping stuff and while we were there I took several pictures with my phone then sent them to the printer via bluetooth. We wrote letters on the page with the pictures and mailed them off from the campground. Thought he'd enjoy getting letters from up north.

ONLY LETTERS!
My daughter suffers from seasonal allergies. Can she bring her over the counter meds with her when she goes to boot camp. If not, will they provide what she needs?
No, she cannot bring any meds with her except birth control pills. They will have to send her to sick call for even OTC meds. If she is suffering, they will send her.
Yes...I asked my daughter about it and she just rolled her eyes and gave me that"stop being such a mother" look!
she needs to be careful especially if she didn't disclose it when she signed up. hoepfully it isnt something she needs any meds for during basic...then she will be fine.
Thank All of you that answered my question!...I am a single Mom and all to new at this site...you all are so helpful..Thank you again!
I don't believe so.
