If PIR is on friday and my sailor prolly wont leave out till sunday to be at her A school on monday do we get to spend time with her over the weekend?

The new Sailors leave for A School on Friday or Saturday now (day of PIR and day after).  Those staying in GL, move over Friday after PIR and then 3-5 hours later have Liberty for the rest of the day and the weekend, but they have to be back each evening to the base across the street from the RTC.  Those flying out to A Schools in other states most likely will leave the RTC in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday.  Once Liberty is called on Friday, your Sailor will know when he/she must return to the RTC and when you will be able to meet him/her at the airport and which one.  (Make sure when you talk to your Sailor following PIR,  that you write down the airport, airline, flight number, and time his/her flight is!) It is possible that your Sailor may have to stand watch at some point and would have to be back for that.  Even though Sailors are taken to the airport in the wee hours of the morning, some do not fly out until later and so you can spend time with them or they can go to the USO.  If your Sailor is unable to fly out on Saturday, he/she will know that at PIR and will let you know how things will go for the weekend.

wow so i really wont know that info untill her PIR we are flying to chicago so im trying to figure out when to scedule our return flight

If she is staying in GL, then you should plan leave late Sunday or on Monday.  If she flies out, then you will want to leave late on Saturday or on Sunday to give you the most time with her.

What is her rating (job) going to be?

her job is IT i know shes going to Fl after bootcamp for 14 weeks i just wasnt sure how long after the PIR b4 they left

Our family is flying in on Wed and planning on going home Sun. Daughter will be going to SC after PIR. We figure that way we can see her off at the airport. If her flight gets delayed we can spend more time with her otherwise we will play tourists in Chicagoland.

were doing the same thing gonna fly in wed so we can get settled in and know where were going and what were doing on friday and we plan on flying out sun also

Our SR is scheduled to graduate on Feb 10th 2012. She is (at this point) supposed to stay at GL for A school. So we are taking the Amtrak into Chicago on Thursday morning and planning to stay until Sunday. We will have the rest of our children ages 6-19 with us. My only dilemma is where to stay??? Do we stay close to base and travel into Chicago as we want to see sites? Or do we stay in Chicago and travel back to base for her? Suggestions anyone?

Suggest if you have not made reservations than you start now, times of the essence. Good luck to you and your sailor, I will be at the same graduation for my daughtr.

Our daughter is also graduating from GL 2/10, we are coming from Corning,NY...we thought about flying but Chicagos airport gets shut down all the time due to their weather, and of course we dont wanna miss graduation. We are taking Amtrak out of Rochester,NY on 2/8. The only problem with amtrak is that we have to board at 11:00 pm, and arrive in Chicago on 02/09 at  10:30 am...its roughly 12 hours. We are renting a car from Hertz, that is the only company that I have been told that you are able to get a rental from right there at Union Station where the train arrives. Then on our way back, we dont leave until 9:30 p.m  and again returing to Rochester,NY at 10:00 am.My understanding is after graduation our daughter will be able to spend the day with us, she will have to be back by sunset. I havent heard if we get to see her on sat or not. Her A school is going to be there in G.L
