For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I think it is common. They don't want them to get in the fleet or sandbox and have a toothache!! Real trouble then!!
A cold?? that is real common also, I hear!
Cried after hanging up?? REAL common also!

Thank you for your comments. It made me feel better!! It was just hard to hear that he was in pain with his teeth. And yes I cried like a baby when we hung up, I think it was that I was so happy to hear his voice, and miss him so much, this is much harder than I thought.

The Navy dentists at RTC pull a lot of wisdom teeth, they are very good at it. Most recruits get over it quickly, so I"d advise just have it done in boot camp. The price is right, free. Sure, it hurts some, but there are soooo many distractions, they forget the pain pretty quickly.
No one gets to keep their wisdom teeth as far as I know.

My son didn't have his wisdom teeth pulled at Bootcamp. he was checked out and sent on his way. That was nearly 2 years ago now though. He's on a ship now, and all 4 wisdom teeth are there with him!

That is surprising, but cool. Guess I'm wrong! Or things change, we know how that goes with the Navy!

I'm sure it's more the norm still than not Anti M. My son graduated in summer of '08 with his wisdom teeth still intact. Still has them in fact. They just keep an eye on them apparently. (btw: he was also one of the few in his Div to not get really sick either! Good clean living and disciplined devotion to a healthy diet prior to BC paid off I guess. LOL)

My son also still has his wisdom teeth his PIR is next Friday, They checked him and send him on his way also, He asked the dentist to remove his permanent retainer from When he had braces, and he told him to come back after bc and he'd take it out,

Its pretty commons because if they get put on a ship for a long time they just don't want to have a wisdom teeth problem. Both my bro's had their's pulled in boot camp very common for the military.

Yup yup my bf went from Cali to Chicago mid-december and had to deal with the cold and he got his wisdom teeth removed, as far as I can remember he had other dental work done as well. I think that compounded with all the other boot camp stuff it fazes them a lot less than it would you or me! At least that's the impression I got.....hope you hear from your son again soon :D
