My son signed the paperwork before he even graduated from high school and kept telling me to go on this site. I never listened thinking that I could handle it since I already went thru my other son going into the Army Reserves. I will tell you having my son leave was more than I could handle and even going thru it with my other son didn't prepare me for what I had to go thru. This site has helped so very much cuz I now know that I'm not the only parent that will cry at a drop of a hat, and that even though I have other children, the one that is gone is more than I can really deal with. I respect his decision and am so very proud but with the world today I constantly worry and fret about him (and my other son). I wish I would have come to this site sooner and seen what to expect and seen that I'm not the only other mother that isn't crazy becuz I can't stop crying or seem like there is a hole in my heart. We as mother's have the best and worst jobs, teaching our children the best we can and then the worst part is letting go and letting them move on! I feel for each and everyone on this site and know how you feel but this is their decision and we must just be proud, support them, and let them live their lives! Love to everyone!

My son went to BC this past April & I didn't cry too much, but had a hard time just functioning. I have 3 other children, but the absence of my son was felt so prominently so I know where you are coming from. I cried the hardest when Facebook posted pictures & I thought I saw my son in one, but he was way in the back. I sent my son the picture & when he said "That's me" I cried for over 1/2 an hour. My husband thought I had lost my mind :) It is hard to have them gone, but it makes seeing them again so much sweeter!
