Stay strong! I have my ups and downs, too. Every time I spoke anxiously about my son's impending departure, I saw how much it pained him. I had to realize that he can't live his life for me, and I would never want him doubting a decision he confidently made. Remember back to when your son first started to walk. Like most mothers, you probably stayed right behind him in case he fell not wanting him to get hurt; but you knew you had to let him try if he was going to move forward. I know it was hard but it was essential. Now that he's getting ready to be out on his own, you can stand behind him to provide encouragement to help him move forward. No one promises it will be easy, but as mothers we know it is essential to let go if they are to become the honorable men we raised them to be.

You did a wonderful job! Be proud of his accomplishment and know that we navy moms will be here for you. Navy moms are the strongest moms in the world.

Remember: We're here if you want to talk.

My boy leaves today!!! He signed on the dotted line in November and it went by SO fast!! We had dinner with him last night and left him at the hotel, we will meet him today at the airport for our goodbyes!!  As sad and nervous as I am (cry every minute), looking at him, so proud and so excited to start his life, it gives me such peace!

Good luck and God bless all of you :)

Sharon

sharon64-good luck today!  My son has been gone 1 week today.  I received the box today and am anxiously awaiting the form letter!

Thank you!! It was a DAY!!!!!

I am now sitting here waiting for my 45 second phone call.......

Hoping GREAT things for you son!!!

Hang in there!

Take a deep breath and know you raised an amazing son.  My oldest daughter left for boot camp on April 2nd and the youngest just left on April 14th.  I am not going to tell you it is easy..as its not.  But I know that i have to let them start their journey and start their own lives.   This site is amazing and will help you so very much.  BE strong for him as they begin to feel your apprehension and you want them to leave with confidence and excitement.
