I've been looking for almost a week trying to find a flight to my sons PIR on June 8th. A round trip ticket is $400!!! Anyone have any pointers on getting a better rate? I've looked at a lot of sites and tried 3 airports (o'hare, midway, and Milwaukee) but they are all right at $400! I even tried the site that was in the brochure that came with the form letter! I'm scared to wait too long to buy thinking the price might go up?!? Yikes!

Here is the link to your PIR group....perhaps some of them can give you hints as to cheaper flights

I'm in that group I'll keep watching it! Thanks!

The longer you wait the worse it will get. They say to book on Tue or Wed for the best rates

Check with southwest and avid refundable tickets

I will look this tues and see if it's any better! Thanks!

Depending on where your coming from it might be "cheaper" to drive. This will nix the cost of a rental car at the very least. Also, you don't say how many people are going. $400 X ? people adds up quick. All of the sudden gas prices don't seem so bad!

There are two of us going...it's an 18hr plus drive coming from Houston and unfortunately I don't have enough time off work to drive there and back :(

OK. Just a thought. We drove from Washington State...5,000 miles when all was said and done. Good luck, and for what it's worth, once PIR is over and you have your child in your arms again, the price of those plane tickets will be PRICELESS!!!!  :-)

If you are flying from Houston, you have the advantage of having Southwest Airlines available to you. At least in using them, you don't have to pay extra for a refundable ticket (just in case). If you will need a rental car, I'd suggest flying into Milwaukee, even if the flight is a bit more, the rental car should be cheaper. Flights are expensive right now. There is a chance before May, gas prices come down a bit. You may be able to save a touch on airfare in the next few weeks.

I found a really good deal at price line,  round trip $220.00, flying into milwaukee and also renting a car there. I heard prices did go up recently.  But if you have not checked into price line you, its worth a try. we are flying out of phoenix.
