For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

QUESTION~
Hi Everyone! We're getting so close, I'm so excited!!! I cannot wait to see my boy!
I have a question I hope someone can asnwer quickly.... He asked that I send his contacts and solution........... do they have to be sealed in their box? I'm just trying to find an envelope at work and nothing seems to be working. I'm assuming he would like them for graduation.

I may be wrong, but by my understanding they are not allowed to have contacts until after graduation, but then they can have them immediately after, so you could bring them to PIR and he could go put them on the minute liberty is called. I think they are not allowed to wear the contacts back to base after liberty either and need to wear the Navy issued glasses to go back to their ship.

Since he asked you for them though, that could mean he got permission for them and everything I just said is wrong, but I’m just repeating what I have heard elsewhere.

Well… hopefully one of the group moderators who has more experience than me will speak up.
Here’s another way to look at it though: If you send a small package with one pair of contacts and some saline and a case (or are they dailies? You could send a tiny package with just a pair), then the worst case scenario is they get thrown away and he gets yelled at a bit… I can’t imagine he’d really get punished for it. This in the last few days of BC probably wouldn’t phase him, so you could go ahead and send it since he asked and not worry about it. Maybe bring some more to PIR to hand off to him as he flies out so that he’ll still get them in case they were thrown out. Sorry, long answer, I’m all antsy and excited so I can’t help typing too much!

Kathy - If he requested them...then it is okay to send them.
Send the contacts and a small (travel size) bottle of solution. You might want to also put that into a ziploc bag.You can use a small priority mail box. Make sure you tape the end closed. Mark the outside of the box with the contents. He will have to open it in front of his RDC (verify the contents...this happens with ANY bulky mail...pictures) and then will be told to put it away until PIR.
