I'm driving up, my parents are going with me, thankfully. The letter from my husband explained that he would be spending Friday after PIR with us, so from like noon to 8 or 10..something like that. Then Saturday at like 3am he would be flying to Charleston, but that could easily change.

I still need to book a room and such. I'm sooo excited! :)

Well, my dad had planned on going with us, but ended up taking his last two vacation days. My grandmother is in ICU and we're not sure she's going to make it, so dad can't go to Chicago.
More than likely my mom and I will fly up now. I probably won't book anything until January, I'm pretty much broke until then.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother, and Im sure your dad is sad on both accounts. Hopefully things will look up for you and your family, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Thanks so much Elsa. It's so difficult not having Michael here to lean on, but its making me stronger. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers, they really mean a lot.

Wishing all with future Salors on Ship 12 Div 054 a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy New Year!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you too!!! :)

Hey everyone. I just wanted to see how you all were holding up? Did you all get phone calls last thursday?

I got my first real letter and a phone call last Thursday. Made it so much easier to get through this! My SR said he has been sick since they got their vaccinations. He passed the PFA and got bumped to E-2. I'm so proud of him! I thought that was why he got to call.

yay! Yeah, my husband said they're all sick.

I've been trying to get my insurance stuff figured out all day, and I feel like I'm running in circles. :(

Is anyone attending the meet and greets? If so, maybe we can all hook up. Just a thought! We have booked the flight and the rooms. Sooo excited to see my son. We hope to spend every possible minute with him. Trisha - My son is going to Goose Creek too, if you hear anything about a change in time of flying to Charleston, let me know. My son forgets to share things like that with us! Happy New Year all!

my husband told me that we were allowed to go with them, well meet them at the airport at 3am, and sit with them until they fly out. They have to be there by 3am, but aren't sure when the flights to SC are.
If I hear anything i'll let you know. :)

I plan to go to the meet and greets, but Im not sure which yet. I'm planning to book rooms and flights within the next week. Once I know more, i'll update. i'm sooo excited!!!

We're (my ex and I, yup weird but we are good friends and actually work together) planning on going to Sarge's meet and greet.  Did you hear about the foot spray for Christmas? LOL!

My son will also be going to A school in SC.  Maybe that's how they group the divisons?

My understanding is that we don't have to be at the airport when they arrive at 3am....see the discussion about it on the main PIR page for 2/3/2012.

Happy New Year!
