Son left 12/5/11.  Just received the form letter.  He's Ship 12 Div 058. PIR 2/3/12.  Got a very short note saying the Petty Officers were killing them.  That was alarming, but then at the end, his usual sarcasm of "I'm alive so stop freaking out."  That made me feel much better.  Anyone else??????

My son left on 12/5 as well. I too recieved my letter today with a PIR date of 2/3/12. He's on Ship 03 Div 053. My son too wrote a short note advising me that it's tough but he's motivated. He also told me that he's not getting a lot of sleep which he expected but that he was well. I went on to say that he wouldn't be writing that much which mad me somewhat sad but I understand that he has to keep focused.

My daughter also has Ship 12 Div 058 and the same PIR. I got my note and form letter yesterday., She says she is ok but it isn't fun and hopes it gets better soon. Lol. I also booked our hotel room today for graduation. Didn't want to wait and not have a good choice.

I just received my son's form letter he is Ship 12 Div 058 as well.  He wrote a short note that everything is going good and send his love.   PIR is 2/3/12.   I am so thankful to hear from him, glad he took a minute to write something.  Now I can mail all the letters that have been stacking up :)   Best wishes to all the other members of this group and our SRs!

Great.  I booked my hotel too.  Does anyone know if we can send them $?  I have relatives asking if they can send Christmas cards with $.

I'm not sure if they can receive checks.  I've asked relatives to send him cards with a note and the checks to me and I am depositing them in his bank so he can access it if he needs it with his bank card.

The only thing I have heard so far is no musical cards, glittery cards or food.  The trainers will make the whole division do more push ups and runs for that!  I've instructed family and friends white envelopes only :)

If you guys are on Facebook, there is a page for U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command.  They hold a trivia contest every Tuesday at noon and if we answer the question first, they will post a picture of our Division!  There's also a forum on the left with our Ship & Division.

My note on the form letter said the food was halfway decent, and they'd been up 40 hours but boot camp wasn't that bad.  They'll be fine :).  Get them in good shape, that's for sure!

Are you also Ship12 Div 058 also?

Nope I'm Ship 3 56.  Where'd you book your hotel btw?

In Waukegan. How about you?

My husband is Ship 12 Div 058 as well. He wrote me a short note in the back saying he loved me and missed me and that wasn't considered his first letter that he would write as soon as he could. It was nice to start sending him letters right away. I write one a day. I miss him so much. I can't wait to see him. Counting down the days!

My daughter is 12/058 also.  On the form letter she said it was really cold up there which is to be expected I guess.  She also said they'd been up over 40 hours but everyone was hanging in there.  I can't wait for Feb to get here !  Good luck to everyone !
