I finally got my letter today!!  Anyone else? I thought this would be a good place for us to share some of the experiences of our soldiers with each other.

I just got my second call.  He mentioned that divisions 905 and 906 were reorganized.  Some from both groups were put back into regular divisions and the remaining recruits from 905 and 906 are now just 906.  88 recruits now in 906.  They have not begun official classes but are doing some book studies and 6 workouts a day.  Keeping very busy.  This morning was the first opportunity he had to write letters.  They got another reward call this morning for someone in their division's shoes being shinier than the officer's.

My son said that they were interviewed when during P-Days and were chosen for 905 or 906 based on their background of athletics or music...There was probably more to it than that, but that was all he shared.  He told me that they had lost one out of the 906 division and that he was afraid that there would be others soon, but he was quick to point out that there was no shame in being re-assigned, and that they were just being placed where they would be the most successful. He says that everyone is getting along really well and they were really starting to come together as a team even though it had only been a short time.

I heard from my SR today - he had about 40 minutes to chat.  He too is looking forward to get into the swing of things but he's homesick.  I tried to encourage him but it was hard!  He's made a couple good friends he said but apparently their division keeps getting in trouble because there are some who don't know when to stop talking...

Fingers crossed you hear from your SR soon!!

Talking seems to be an issue. Read that in a few posts today. My SR said that is why they lost their phone call last week which bummed a few SRs out. He made a few good friends also. Once they start doing things tomorrow after being on hold for so long it should be better. My SR thinks morale will improve because they wont have time to be homesick.

Yay! I just got to talk to my son. He says that they are one week1 p-hold 1. Monday will be week 2-1.  He also says that they have their swimming certification on Monday so everyone pray for your recruit.  On Tuesday he says that they have PFA (may have to look that one up on the Navy terms section of this site).  Friday is their first uniform inspection.  He says that he thinks everyone is doing pretty well.  Their division is considered shipping staff and that they sort of run the PIR's before theirs.

I told him that we have our own 906 discussion page and he was very impressed. He asked me who all was in the group, but he mostly knows everyone by last name, which we aren't allow to give on this site.  However, I was able to give him a few names from our PIR 12-13 FB page.  It was a great conversation! So awesome to hear his voice.

hello i wanted to say i have a son in this div.hes doing pretty good,i go t a letter from him friday an it made my week.im trying to find the closest hotel o stay at when we go th the graduation on dec.13th,does anyone have any info?

Hi patmsue,

I'm sorry no one caught this post before now.  Welcome to our group.  The best way to connect with all of us other SR Mom's and Wives is on a couple of different Facebook pages which are set up for our division along with our brother division of 905.  There's also one for all the graduating (PIR) class of 12-13-13.

Here are the 2 links if you have a facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/445245368930406/

https://www.facebook.com/groups/576012312447569/

These are closed groups, so you will have to let them know who your son is (for security reasons).  If you don't have facebook, that's okay too.  There aren't as many Mom's on this page as there used to be, but there are still a couple of us that normally monitor the posts here as well (sorry - bad day yesterday for me - I got behind on the posts on this site).

Soooo Happy everyone is getting their phone calls. We are all ecstatic tonight. Sounds like all the recruits are doing well. My son said it was a good group of recruits.
Got a call today! He sounded so good! He said Friday was 1-1 and they had been in Pdays for 2 full weeks. They are a push division. He has to get wisdom teeth out next week. :( He had also mentioned having a few talkers in the division so there has been IT already. He sounded very positive about everything so dar. The swim test is coming up so it's time we say a fewexfew extra prayers that they all do well! And he did mention something about maybe getting liberty for Christmas. Did anyone else hear that?

NKKate - my son told me the same thing about Christmas....he said he may get 5 days of liberty because everything will shut down for Christmas.  We'll see what happens.  He didn't send me the Adopt a Sailor form because he doesn't want me to spend the money...I told him I didn't care that of course I'd be there.  Since he didn't send one is there any way that I can go or is it too late?

I'll send you the form tomorrow.  It 's a generic form that you can use.  You just have to get it in by November 8th. I have it scanned in at work.

Actually, if you look on page 2 of this discussion, there should be a .pdf copy of the form that I posted for someone on Friday.
