Sherrill- B explained that to... Having duty doesn't always mean they have watch or have to work...they have to "available" in case they are needed. I hope I have it right.

Ohhhhh, a Duck Bus!! I have seen them didn't know what they were called! I want to buy a ticket for the tour...will it handle the mountains? Thanks for the story behind it! Connie you always come up with the neatest stuff! We had a great visit with B, over an hour...he even had a nice visit with his Grandma! I was up to my elbows in stuffing when he called (perfect timing) so I had a quick chat and  passed the phone on. Thank goodness for speaker phones!!

MNM- I agree the quiet is nice after big festivities, I find it aids in digestion too.

Matt's Mom- No way am I facing the crowds of Black Friday! I am too worn out from cooking and baking to take on those crazies! LOL! This is my day of rest after yesterday...in fact there is no cooking at all at my house. It's a "if you want to eat, fix yourself something from leftovers" kind of day and do your own dishes or no more pie! The kitchen is closed and the chef has passed out!

Thanks so much.  It is so confusing.  I really appreciate you responding based on your own experiences! :)

navy gf my son began ATT & AWAT right after the Christmas break and graduated A school the third week of May.  He went to school for ATI.  His C school was only one part and was located at the duty station he was assigned to. C school was only a couple of months.  So as you see there are a lot of variations just with the ATs.

Ladies I found a way to keep from over indulging on the desserts - just don't have anything you really like.  Now if I would have picked up a chocolate or pecan pie from the bbq place it would be a different story. lol

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  Anyone fighting the Black Friday crowds this year?

CC-the Duck Bus....the way a Navy Mom travels!

navygf-i can't remember right off hand but i think you said ATI?  that usually takes "about" 3 ½ months.  my Sailor started January 10th and graduated April 22.  if your Sailor is ATO his school is a bit shorter.

"C" school for my Sailor was in 2 parts and his orders were written as such. he started out OJT and then to the classroom which went from 5-9 to 9-16.

kk- great picture of Mom and Sailor son basting the Turkey!! Mine would be doing just that if he were home today!

Sherrill- How great that you got to talk for an hour plus!! Must have been a great connection... not sure if Brandon has duty today or not and not sure what he'll be doing as far as dinner today. Our boy sure doesn't share details much. LOL But, I am sure if he is near a TV he will be watching football like us! How wonderful that your sons friend and wife kidnapped him for dinner!  NOW, what in the world is a duck bus????
