Happy Friday Ladies! So nice to hear from some of you.
Matt'sMom/Cathy - Hope all is well in Japan after the typhoon. You have a grandson! How wonderful! Would love to see pics!
Andrewsom - Those custom forms are easy to fill out. A card or letter just takes a regular stamp. Fill that box full of goodies...your son will appreciate it. Hope he's having a good deployment. It's very exciting to hear about the places they visit. I'm patiently waiting for my son to get to his next port. He called me when he was in Singapore but I have no idea where he's headed now and I never ask him because I know he can't tell me anyway. He does however throw me a few hints every now & then but I think he does that just to keep me guessing! LOL
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Andrewsmom yes you do have to fill out a customs form when shipping to FPO addresses. I am not sure about the card. I know that I have mailed expired coupons to overseas bases and have not had to fill out a customs form before but that could have changed now.
Hi All! joshmom and Cathy, I have a question regarding sending packages to FPO addresses. Do we need to fill out a customs form? My son's ship recently deployed (his first) and I'm not clear on the rules that are posted on USPS website. I have a card to send now and want to send a flat rate package in the near future.
His ship is currently participating in RIMPAC, but will be travelling to International destinations after that. I'm not aware of dates, etc...
Any advice is most appreciated. Thanks!
Hi joshmom and everyone else! Matt has been in for 5 years and has one year left on his contract. He is married and has a soon to be 2 year old son. He is currently deployed to Japan and just got to ride out the typhoon on base. Hope all is well with your sailors.
Hello ladies! How's everyone doing these days? Time to check in....this group is getting too quiet! Hope all is well for each of you.
My sailor just had a birthday....another one at sea....and yep I got a case of the "missing my sailor blues". I hate it that I can't even call him but he did send me an email last week and said he received his birthday package so I was relieved to know it arrived before his birthday and not afterwards. Got my fingers crossed for a phone call soon.
Have a Great Day Everyone!!!!
Joshmom: He said "I".
Candirad - did your son mention which strand he is in? I or O? Not all AT's go on to C school but if your son does go to C school he won't find out which one until he gets his orders which will come out toward the end of his A school. Things start to make more sense as you go along...well clear as mud anyway LOL!
How funny joshmom! I wonder if my son goes there next? He is currently in a "strand" class in A School according to his text last night. I will keep you posted. I figure the more schooling the better!
Candirad - I have to chuckle...please don't take that the wrong way I'm not laughing at you. By "cal" mom I'm referring to our sons being in calibrations not California. Easy to see how you can get confused...I really should explain myself better! Calibrations is just one of the C school trainings there is and the only school for calibrations is in Biloxi. Hey, on here we are all "AT" moms and we're all here for each other!
Have a great day!
Hello Ladies:
Thank you joshmom for all your support to us "newbies". We really appreciate it! With all this talk of sending back in "245 more troops" I asked my son if he would be on a plane or a ship and then I realized I am just grateful he is not one of the "boots on the ground".
Rosemary: How are you doing? I pray for safety for all of our boys/men.
When you ladies say "cal mom" are we talking California? If yes - I am here too!
Have a great day and let's keep up our communication and good thoughts!
