hello Betsy-my Sailor is in the "thick" of I strand now. yes it's hard....and if he finds he needs help it will be there for him. just keep doing what you've been doing all along...encouraging him in every step of the way in his new "navy life". tell him that your friends here are all cheering for him!!! AND he needs to be reminded that the NAVY thinks highly enough of him to put him there!!!!!
marine_navymom, thank you, that does help me understand a bit more. I will make sure to tell him to take advantage of the study groups.
joyce, that's what I'm afraid of too, my son's abilities in math aren't the best.
Cindy, my son did math in his head all through high school. His teachers were always on him too. lol Must be a guy thing.
Wow, I haven't been on here for a few weeks, and I will never wait that long to check in again. It took me over an hour to catch up. Whew!
I did get a lot of good information from reading all of you ladies posts on the A school process. Thanks!
My son just finished his ATT classes last week and he finished 2nd in his class, out of 21. Woohoo! Of course he was most excited about being able to be the 2nd person to sign his sargeant's yearbook. lol He is waiting to class up now and will do his AWAT class in a week. He sounded a little apprehensive about his AT I strand classes and a bit nervous. Does anyone know that if they did well in ATT classes, does that give them a better chance of doing well in their AT I strand classes? This is the first time that I have seen doubt in my son. He has been so confident up to this point. I have another question too. When some of you said that they left the class, does that mean that they aren't ready for the class and have to wait longer to try again, or do they have to train for something else all together?
Thanks for all of your help.
I am planning a trip to see my son in Pensacola in April and can't wait. I'm driving there all by myself from New Mexico. (My husband is working in Maryland and I will move there in late spring) I'm planning on driving 3 days, 2 nights in a hotel, stay 3 nights there and then drive back home 3 days, 2 nights. It's worth it to spend a weekend with my baby. :)
