Yes Connie it was the Accelerate to Excellence Progam and no it doesn't exist anymore.  I think it may have only been around for a year maybe two.  They accepted 100 people into the program and I don't know if they all started at the same time but when Matt got to A school there were only 24 of them.  I don't know if they plan on puttting another program into place or not.  Matt was just lucky that it was available at the time he was joining.

Matt's Mom--you're talking about the Accelerate to Excellence program right? this is some thing that they do when they enlist? i am trying to find more info (just out of curiosty and i know a young person who is considering the Navy upon graduation from H.S.) but all the info on the internet looks very dated. does this program still exist?

My son was in Echo because they had put the A2E group in there since they were all going to the same classes. After they graduated they were allowed to stay during A school since they didn't have another group coming in for several months.

ok and thanks....seems like such a big deal is made over ECHO. i was thinking that it must require something special.

ECHO--so all they have to do is 'ask'? no requirements?
