can anyone explain what is 'air crew'? is it another distinction within a rate that a Sailor may or may not get/need/want? it is a 'speciality' that is earned after completion of certain training and courses?

Matt's Mom---he had to finish his degree? sorry i don't understand that...hope you will tell me how that works. so do you mean once they are in A school they get their education on a specific plane...who decides this? i had heard something about this before but didn't understand it. Before my son left he said he was told that he could take college courses while in the Navy but it's was hard to wrap my brain around it because of Boot Camp and thinking once he arrived to Pensacola and school started i thought that would be all anyone could handle. do you or anyone know of a web site that explains the options one has while in the Navy? it sounds like each 'path' is individualized.

Connie my son was in Pensacola 11 months also but that was because he had to finish his degree before starting A school. From the time he started A school until graduation was 5 months. His C school is also at his permanent duty station but that is not always the case. My son has shore duty also because his plane will not fit on a ship but he will still be going to other places to follow his plane.

ladies--been watching for your posts and trying to keep up with what is going on...soooo lost here BUT i think from your posts that from PIR to finishing up in A school is approx. 6 months? still a newbie with lots to learn. Sailor Son has been in Pensacola for about 3 weeks now. don't know if he has done anything but take classes in financial management and firefighting.

I think that the C schools for ATI are Whidbey, WA ,Jacksonville, FL., Virginia and Lemoore, CA. I don't know if there are others are not but that was the options at the time Matt graduduated back in May.

I guess we wont find out about C school till graduation. I was just wondering if Chris would stay in Pen till January or go somewhere else and wait. His girlfriend is going down today for the weekend so I know I wont hear from him at all. He cant wait to move on as well I believe you are all a few weeks ahead of my son.
