marine_navy mom from what Matt said they do not go back to Phase 1 when they get to C school. They do have to go through some sort of classes which I think basically goes over the rules for the base and that sort of stuff but they still have the freedom that they earned in A school. He didn't receive his orders until a couple of weeks after he graduated A school but that was during the time that they had all of the flooding and that was delaying orders.

Hey Marine navy mom... as an IA they are pulled from their unit sent for a couple of months of training with the others they will serve with and then sent to the sand. Most of the sailors I know that have gone IA have served as security for bases in Afghanistan.

A det is a detachment... lots of units do them... especially helo units. Sometimes they are for training... for desert terrain or sea... sometimes it is just they only need one or two helos for a ship not the entire squadron. Sounds like your son is going with one or two helos to a ship... after their 'mission' is finished they will return to the squadron's base until time to go out on another det...

the Navy will ship even your Sailor's 'lazy boy recliner'...who would have ever imagined that!! wow! we used to have a Navy Captain as a neighbor (who is in Hawaii now) and it was amazing to watch them pack up for the big move...building crates and all for shipping.

MommyHunt glad to hear that she doesn't have mono. I hope that she feels better soon. My son got sick a couple of months after he arrived at A school and it lasted for 2 months. His symptoms were similiar to mono also.
