@Mommy and CIndy--i can not get over how welcoming and friendly this group is...wow!!! thank you all again. Son called a little while ago with new address so Dad rushed off to FedEx with the box. I don't know if it is "son" or the "phones" at GL and Pensacola but we can not hear him:( so far so good for him but then again he had no complaints about BC. He says it's weird that people are not screaming in Pensacola LOL !!!! how are all of your Sailors handling the connecting to the internet issue???

Welcome Connie! Did you also join Sailors in Pensacola and Corry Station too? That group is a wealth of information also.

Connie,
One thing is for sure...Changes happen all the time!! About the time you figure out the schedule it will all change... get used to the term "needs of the navy"... it all depends minute to minute who they need where... of course that is after waiting days, weeks or months for a decision to be made... ;)
My son was on hold for almost two months for one of his schools... the next school he made by two days... and keep the encouragement going to your sailor! The better they do in their schools the more they qualify for! And the more schooling the better prepared they are when they get to the fleet!

Hello everyone! Son just PIR'd 9-24 and arrived Pensacola yesterday. I 'think' I'm in the right group however I know NOTHING and I am as confused as I can be about understanding his new "Navy Life". He called last night and said it could be up to 3 months before school starts....???? wow...that's a lot of scrubbing and cleaning I see in his future...LOL He's also on a 4 day duty routine and I am wondering if that changes as he will progress to and in A school or will it remain the same for the time he is there in Pensacola? looks like he will have duty on Thanksgiving day.

marine_navy mom sorry to hear about the foot but that sounds like a smart idea to get close to a good hospital. C school will be 5 months for Matt then 3 months training.

One thing I noticed is that ATI are usually assigned to a ship... ATO are assigned to a squadron...

MommyHunt Matt didn't know until he received his orders that he had C school, what his duty station would be and the plane that he was assigned to. He didn't receive orders until 2 weeks after he graduated A school but I think that is unusual.

marine_navy mom Matt is doing great but he did get assigned C school so he is not out of school yet. He is ready to get a chance to use his training. He starts school next week and will finish in February but will have 3 months hands on training with the plane after that. He has worked his way up to Petty Officer 3 Class in the year he has been in and just took the test for PO2.

Mommy I don't know if all ATIs have C school or not but I don't know of anyone he graduated A school with that wasn't sent to C school. I will ask Matt if he remembers what calculator it was they had to have. He had a TI84 from college but that wasn't the exact one they were using. The other one had certain function keys on it that they used a lot.
