Morning ladies!
Got to admit I'm a little jealous.....a sailor only 6.5 hours away! Lucky you Beachbunny!! And Cali sounds wonderful never been there maybe someday. Even though I miss my sailor he's getting to see the world and he's enjoying the ride. Got my fingers crossed he'll get to come home this winter. Beachbunny, perhaps if your son decides to re-enlist he'll get the chance to choose overseas.

Have a great day ladies!

Now you'll have one more reason to visit Micky Mouse!  6.5 hours is just a hop, skip, and a jump away! I'm so happy for you!

I grew up in Orange County, still go down there every year to visit my mouse friend...stayed in Santa Barbara during summers with my aunt...kinda funny how my Northern CA sailor is stationed there now...:)

water is a bit warmer than the cold frigid Pacific of No CA! LOL.  Channel Islands are right off the Coast if he wants to take a boat and scuba dive.  I think there's a naval base there too.  Summers are foggy, fall is nice and sunny. He's a bit farther away from the snow.  Mammoth is about 5-6 hours from there, but he can always go to Big Bear or Wrightwood.  It would be a couple of hours away. :)

Oh..that's great to hear, we told him he could learn some water sports down there...we live in Northern CA and he is a skier and snowboarder....he loves to snorkel and snuba dive....so the area should be a nice change for him plus for us he isn't too far from home...at least for a little while...:)))

I used to spend summers near Point Magu on Sunset Beach in Oxnard. My dad taught underwater photography at the base.  I love the area, hope your son does too!
