Wow...what a journey. I joined this group when my daughter was in BC and had her rate and then...well, she had a long haul through and didnt make her PIR date as expected and needed an extra 2 weeks to pass her run. She made it to Pensacola (yay!) about 3 weeks ago and just found out today that she'll class-up next week. So, here I am back to learn all about the next stage. She is an ATI and is a little nervous about starting school but is excited to get going. She's been working as a Yeoman on the GW during her hold and is sorry to go since she gets along so well with the other staff, residents and CHIEF! What can she expect from here? Like I said, nervous about starting school and the difficulty level...any words of advice?
Good Morning and Welcome to Monday!
BeachBunny - Congrats on your Sailor being top in his class! Sorry I can't help with Norfolk (mine went to Biloxi for C school) but I hope you're able to find the info you're looking for. Best of Luck to your son.
Summer is in full force here in MO - heat & humidity! Hope you all have a great week.
Good Friday Morn Ladies...
I've been reading this group for awhile, only posted a couple of times...:) So happy that you share about your sailors...My sailor will be grad top of his class from A school in Pcola on Sept. 9th then heading to C school in Norfolk on Oct 6th before going to his assigned duty station at Pt Mugu, CA....has anyone's sailor had C school in Norfolk? Norfolk group has tons of information but not any on the C school...just wanted to read up on it...:)))
What a wonderful start to the day - I got a phone call from my Sailor. His ship just pulled back into port and he was happy to be back on land. First deployment was a success!
Have a Fantastic Weekend Everyone!
Happy Friday Everyone!
Beautiful weather here in MO and I've got a huge party going on at my house this weekend.....WoooooHoooo Food, Friends & Fun!!!!!
Have a Great Day and even better Weekend!
Hello ladies! It's been a while since I posted - life has been hectic. Just got back yesterday from a vacation in Colorado. Had a great time - the scenery was beautiful. This was the first vacation without our Sailor which somewhat made me feel guilty but than I thought hey he just left Australia and I'll probably never get there! I bought some fudge at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to send to him. He loves fudge!
Sherrill - Prissy is adorable! She looks just like a Yorkie my in-laws use to have. As for that motorcycle, I understand your feelings. Your son is a responsible man so I'm sure he'll be cautious. Can't help but worry though.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Oh, and lulu... her C school is 3 months... but again... that depends on the aircraft to which they are assigned.
Hi lulu, my daughter left Pensacola immediately after A school graduation and drove her truck across country to Lemoore in a week. She got C school in Lemoore because of her aircraft assignment. The Growlers are very similar to the F-18's so she is being trained on that right now and then when she gets to Whidbey she will have another month or so of training specific to the Growler. A lot of people who go to C school in Lemoore are actually assigned to F-18 squadrons there, so they end up staying in Lemoore as the permanent duty station. There was a little wait for her to class up at C school (just like any other school), so she did barracks support, etc until class started. As far as the path your son will take... who knows... it just depends on what aircraft he is assigned to and what squadron he is assigned to. He will find this out right at the end of his A school and then his path will be made more clear. Good luck and I hope he gets Whidbey since that's what he wants! :-)
Hi Sherrill, thanks for the information. She will be stationed with a VAQ sqaudron at Whidbey Island, not on a ship. Her squadron just returned from a deployment with the Ike (not her though, she's finishing up her C school), and will now be switching aircraft from the Prowler to the Growler. I guess it takes a little over a year to make the transition, so they won't be going on any cruises for a while as they make the change. They will be doing workups though. Her squadron is pretty much land based until they are needed to go on a carrier for a cruise. They already told her she will be going to the line shack when she gets there in a few weeks (however, I know that can change... things always do with the Navy :-) ) She is motivated to get as many quals in as she can before they go on another cruise in a couple of years. Did you mean that your son was working on quals for PO1? After being in 6 years I would think he was already PO3 :-) Is he an ATO or ATI? Thanks for all your information!
