hey ladies, any idea where A school will be for graduating SR? and any advice I can share with him about how to be successful in this area of AAT
Good afternoon ladies and Happy Friday! I'm feeling good today...wearing my Margaritaville flip flops and my toe nail polish matches my shirt....I just love it when I'm colored coordinated! LOL
MNM - funny you mentioned an ereader. My sailor LOVES to read and we gave him a Nook when he graduated bc. He always appreciates a Barnes & Noble gift card! Recently he told me that I would see a bunch of charges on his Navy account to B&N....he was loading up his Nook before deployment.....got his statement and yes he loaded up! I didn't even bother to count all the books he bought! He developed a passion for books in the 3rd grade and still reads as often as he can today.
Connie - the dental hygienist & her pilot hubby sound like a wonderful couple....hope you get to hear & swap Navy stories everytime you take Sissy to the dentist. Hope Grandmaw is doing well...keeping her in my prayers.
Sherrill - I'm sure your son has what it takes to go thru the STA-21 program. Hope he's able to achieve that goal.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy!!!!
good evening my girlies!!!! wooo hooooo!! couldn't wait to get on her to tell you about a young Navy wife i met today.
BUT first....joshmom your Country boy is going to love that belt buckle...he'd love any thing his momma and daddy will send because it will always remind him of the love and support back home!
ok now about the young Navy wife....she's Sissy's new dental hygienist and cute as a bug!! her Navy helo pilot husband is at Millington on some thing called unrelated TAD and they'll be here for about 2 more years. i asked her if she likes it here and since they are both from North Mississippi well heck-fire we almost neighbors when they were growing up!!!
Navy helo pilot has been in for 15 yrs. and he started out as an AT!!!! right there in Pcola!!!!! they came here from Norfolk!!! double WOW!!! he took advantage of the STA-21 program was was "winged" in 2008 i think she said.
i asked her if she had any preferences about where they might go next...awww you're gonna love this....she said "don't care. i'll just follow him where ever he goes....gotta be flexible!"
what a neat young woman i met today and for a while i'll get to see her when i take Sissy to the dentist.
Love the pillow cases Connie! You are so talented. Thank you for the websites but I have decided to drop the idea of sheets because I have not found anyone who has sent sheets or the rack pack to his ship and until I get confirmation that it's ok I don't want to take the chance (thanks for the advice Sherrill) My hubby did come up with a neat gift idea. Our Sailor is a real country boy and before he left for Japan he bought himself a new belt buckle...you know the big cowboy type kind...anyway we are having a new personalized leather belt being made for him.
Extra prayers going up for Grandmaw.
a very very late good eveing my girlies,
Grandmaw has been in and out of the hospital recently. She fell on 4-13 and developed a string of blood clots from the top of her leg to her ankle. we pretty worried about her. she still looks amazingly beautiful and last night in the ER she had me laughing so hard i almost cried! i know without asking you will say a little prayer for her.
joshmom, well sheets, i can sure tell you about http://navyfleetsheets.com/. i didn't order the sheets because on my Sailor's ship as long as they are white then no problem. another mom i know of did order the sheets and her Sailor LOVED them. i ordered the comfort pad and my Sailor is thrilled about it. the man who i talked to before ordering the sheets is really nice but you do have place the order online.
another idea is http://navyrackpacks.com/ and my Sailor LOVES this too! he says it makes his berthing very cozy and more private. and i did have it personalized so no one would snatch it....he told me that several on the Bush have the rackpack.
on both of these suggestions be sure to go through the websites to make sure his Command approves this.
and one more idea...have you made a personalized pillowcase for him? making one is super easy but if you can't sew or don't know any one that does sew you can buy a plain pillowcase and decorate it with a permanent marker.
i am going to post some of the pillowcases that i have made for my Sailor and others to give you some ideas....it's going to fill up the page so my apologies to all the moms.
Happy Friday and it's a three day weekend Woo Hoo! Got the camper loaded and ready to head to the lake for some R&R.
lmcbwnc - if your son is AT then he'll be going to P'cola. When is his PIR? Got questions just ask!
Jasmin - wear what ever you feel good in and comfortable. I wore nice jeans and a sweater but it was in December and cold! Very exciting time for you...I'm sure you're counting down the days!
Hope you all have a great weekend!
