TGIF!!!!  It's suppose to be a beautiful weekend here in the midwest, if only my allergies would let me enjoy the outdoors!

Sherrill - Is your son wanting to go back to Japan?  I'm confused I thought he'd be staying in the states.  Forgive me, my mind doesn't always work that well lol

MNM -  moving into a condo how exciting.  Lots of work but the end result will be so nice

Cassidy - glad you're going to PIR.  Once you see your fiance in his uniform you won't be able to keep your hands off him oooo la la they all look so handsome in their dress whites/blues!

Welcome BeachBunny (love the name)

Connie - again, it sure is great to have you back!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Good afternoon ladies!

I have to share my "feel good" moment with you all.  Flowers were delivered to me today.  At first I couldn't believe they were for me because it's not my birthday, not my anniversary, not anything special but when I read the card they were from my Sailor!  He sent them just because he loves me and wanted to brighten up my day!   I was so surprised and yes I cried but they were happy tears.  I sure do miss him but he makes me so proud.  Moments like this remind me that me and the hubster have done a really good job in raising him.

Cassidy26 - Welcome, glad to have you onboard!   My son is ATI and Jill gave you a great explanation (Thanks Jill)  My son spent 6 months in P'cola before going on to C school.  Your fiance will have to go through ATT & AWAT classes before he starts his I strand class.  Those two classes will take around 6 weeks to complete.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when they class up, as Jill said some class up quickly while others wait months.  Will you be going to PIR on the 26th?  Feel free to ask any questions, we'll help you as much as we can.  We're here for ya!

Connie - you and Sissy on Price is Right!  That would be too funny!!!!  Hope the new meds keep working well for her.  Give that girl a big hug from her "Aunties"

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Cassidy, I can understand that!  It's hard though because when they get there they don't know how long they will be on hold.  They are put on a list and can estimate... but then usually, as in my daughters case, they are working away at their barracks support and then just told out of the blue that they are classing up, LOL.  The beach is nice at Pensacola... just remember the move is on your own dollar :-)

Jill- Thank you so so much for your help! Oh lord I hope he isnt on hold for that long I might have to move down there lol I cant take being apart for 9 months, plus who wouldnt want to live near the beach ;)

Here's a website that explains the differences pretty well.

Hi Cassidy, my daughter is an ATO, but I could maybe help you a little.  I know there are some ATI mom's that probably know more about that particular rating.  ATO and ATI are similar in that they both work on the electronic components of the aircraft to which they are assigned.  However, ATO's will work directly on the aircraft, testing components, wiring etc.  If there is a problem with it that can't be taken care of right then they will send the component to the ATI in the shop and they will actually work directly on the circuit board, etc to repair the component, then send it back out to the ATO who will then re-install it to the aircraft.  Because of the intricacy of the ATI's job their training is much longer.  ATO's will have A school for about 14 weeks while ATI's will have A school for about 26 weeks.  He will have a school start date on his order, but don't pay any attention to that... he will be on hold for a while!  Some are lucky and only on hold for weeks, or like my daughter, on hold for 3 months or more, just depends on how backed up they are.  After finishing A school many ATI's will also then go to C school to better their their job, but not all do, it just depends.  Other ATI mom's can give a better answer I'm sure, but this is how I understand it.
