Hey Kimmic- My son will graduate 4/27/12 and is a AM it looks like he will be in A-school in PNS..so I would love to hear anything that might be helpful for me. I guess he is going to be a Grad and Go so I want to be able to get this truck and cell down there..Not but a 3hr drive.
Kim - my son is also in Pensacola, he has been there since March 3rd. He is a changed kid/man for sure. He really has taken to the military life and is now talking about career! I'm so proud of him!!
Not sure about cellular plans but my son is also in San Diego. Depending on their status, they are allowed to leave the base. I would suggest checking into his cellular plans, as many companies have experience in suppporting millitary families.
Hi TraceJ My son is in Pensacola Florida. They are able to skype. After a few weeks they get to level 2. They are aloud to leave the base at that point. My son and I never got along we were to much alike. There was always a debate going on between us. Now that he is in the navy we have a great relationship. He loves what he is doing and that makes me happy. They change after bootcamp. He calls me at least 3 times a week and we skype at least once a week and it is great. My youngest is in bootcamp. We live in Great Lakes because my husband is stationed here he is a chief. It changed my husbands life also. He was getting into trouble all the time until he joined the military. We have been married 7 years and he is a wonderful husband. It does change them. Take care and God Bless.
Hello all, my SR will PIR 04/20 and I am trying to figure out what he may take to A School. I am curious how available internet is for him to skype with his young siblings? Also from any experienced parents, would it be worth getting him a cellular with a data plan so he can skype from his phone? Concerned that we will take out a 2 yr olan to find he goes to school for 6-8 week then out to sea with no use for a phone. I know we can put the phone in a sleep mode, just looking for advice. His siblings are 7,5 and 2 so talking on the phone for the youngest isn't easy. Thanks for any and all help!
my son left this am for charleston for A school. any advice?
My daughter graduated boot camp on 12/29 and now is attending A-School in Great Lakes and just got her verbal orders this Monday she will be going to San Diego which we are very happy because it is close to home. Her rate is an engineman
Haven't been on here in awhile. Thanks for the great info about Okinawa. He graduates Tuesday and will be able to come home after all; he will be working with the recruiter while he's here. He reports to San Diego at the end of the month. Can't wait to see him!

Hello all...I just joined this group. Our son's PIR was 12/29. He was on ship09 division 023. He is at Great Lakes for A school. His rate is engineman. He has verbal orders for the pre-com USS Arlington LPD 24. He really wanted Everett, WA but orders are orders :)
