I don't know the answer to that...all I know is that my health insurance (also my employer) says that I couldn't keep her on there since she was no longer my dependent.

Thank you WLBradford! we kept our son on ours (maybe we shouldn't have) after reading horror stories about recruits being injured in basic and being sent home with no medical coverage, because it had been dropped when they left for boot camp. As I understood it ,they do not qualify for military benefits if they are discharged before they have 180 days service. I appreciate the input. :)

Dale, you might want to check with your health insurance plan. It's my understanding that as soon as he stepped foot off of the bus at Boot Camp, he was covered under the Military health insurance. I know I had no choice but take my daughter off of my plan. I was told this was because she was no longer my legal dependent since she was of age and didn't live with me any longer. Hope this helps.

Hi A School moms! My son PIRed on 9/30/11 and is in Goose Creek, SC waiting to class up for nuke school.

I am wondering about dropping him from out health insurance coverage. Does anyone have any advice on this?

thanks so much! ~Dale

sounds like all the A school people are making progress, my daughter is doing well with the written tests, it's hard to believe they have taught her how to study and she actually does it.  Learning to operate the equipment has been a challege for her but she is passing so far.  Hope you all have a wonderful day
