Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by SonandSea on October 10, 2011 at 2:54pm: Thank you WLBradford! we kept our son on ours (maybe we shouldn't have) after reading horror stories about recruits being injured in basic and being sent home with no medical coverage, because it had been dropped when they left for boot camp. As I understood it ,they do not qualify for military benefits if they are discharged before they have 180 days service. I appreciate the input. :)

It's my understanding that as soon as he stepped foot off of the bus at Boot Camp, he was covered under the Military health insurance. I know I had no choice but take my daughter off of my plan. I was told this was because she was no longer my legal dependent since she was of age and didn't live with me any longer. Hope this helps.

I am wondering about dropping him from out health insurance coverage. Does anyone have any advice on this?

Comment by mama bear on October 8, 2011 at 7:08pm: sounds like all the A school people are making progress, my daughter is doing well with the written tests, it's hard to believe they have taught her how to study and she actually does it. Learning to operate the equipment has been a challege for her but she is passing so far. Hope you all have a wonderful day
