julieb there is a group for IS moms where we have a lot of info on the schools and the Va Beach area posted. Generally the most active ladies there are the ones whose sailors are there for schools or who will soon be there. Should be some fairly up to date posts on various aspects of the schools. He will be happy there. It's a great place for them to start networking too. My son has worked with several people he knew from school. Both in Korea and now at his new assignment, he looks for people he knew in school or on the base at the same time even if different schools. Relax and enjoy this time.

I know what you mean.  We live in IN and its kinda expensive to fly to the west coast.  Its 8 hrs to MS thats not as bad.  I knew when he went in that I wouldnt get to see him but A school is giving me hope.  I just have to make the most of every moment I get.

It does....my son is home this week...then off to Washington. I'm not so sure I will see him except that he comes home also. We live in PA and he will be as far NW as you can get!!! He already asked me if we were planning a trip next summer...I would love to, but I just don't know if it will be possible?

Hi everyone, I feel like us moms that have had kids with recent PIR's are the new kids in class lol. Thanks to all the 'experienced' moms who are willing to help us on this new in our childrens lives! There is a naval station about 30 minutes from my home in Nevada (station is in Fallon) and I wish wish, my daughter could get stationed there, but im coming to realzie the rating for sailors there is a lot different than what she is (SW). If anyone knows of a sailor that is stationed there, and needs an 'adoptive family' for whatever reason, let me know. The navy is so vast, and now that im looking at it from a moms point of view, whenever I hear the Navy planes fly overhead, Im reminded that's someones son or daughter. :)
