Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

Thought it would be great to learn where everybody's sailor is heading to after PIR.  This can be a great way to open new conversations at the M&G and also make new friends that will be going…Continue

This is the final test for the recruits before they become sailors.  It is an overnight drill held on a ship replica made by Disney, so it is very realistic....the recruits face every challenge that…Continue

AlishaNicole - I think we all needed the BIG and BOLD!!

Kathy - Yes I would rather wait on mail than have my son.

Sandy, Erin & Kathy - thanks for all your work on the M&G, I keep thinking I can't take on anything else, you gals inspire me :)

One Mom posted she ran around for weeks with her cell phone stuck in her bra so she wouldn't miss a call.

Kathy:  We can order the kit right here off the website!!  I've requested it and will bring it when we fly to Chicago.  I'll be staying at the Ramada .  We are scheduled to come in Thursday morning. So I should have plenty of time to set us up a table with name tags and such.  Oh what fun!

Maybe the good Lord wanted it big and bold! Woohoo!!

Comment by AlishaNicole SHP11DIV54 on December 15, 2010 at 8:16pm

WOW! That was BIG and BOLD, don't know what I did, but the message is still the same!

Ladies, this may put things in to perspective, or maybe not. I just spoke to my good friend who's son just graduated Coast Guard boot camp. She said she didn't talk to her boy for 5 weeks! We can DO this! Keep the faith, girls....

ACT, needn't worry about the strange things you do to make sure you don't miss a call.  I have my home phone forwarded to my cell phone and even when I'm in the shower, I bring it in with me and turn the ringer up on HIGH.  So, see...we will all need psychological counseling after PIR.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that after PIR, this starts all over again but maybe, just maybe, they will be able to have their cell phones wherever they are going in order to stay in touch in their off hours.

P.S.  No mail to Seattle, either.  hrummppffffhhhhh

P.S.S.  Making Bacardi Rum Cake .... just might not have enough rum for the cake after finding yet another empty mail box.

Let's look at it this way ladies.....as long as our mail gets to them that is the most important part.  we can wait (hard i know, but we can).  If i had to pick, and i know you all would agree, you'd want your child/hubby to get theirs and we will wait ours out if we have to.  The mail and calls will come! i am sure of it!  Think positive and pray for them!  As long as they know we are thinking about them, I am happy. With that said..you can count on me yelling from the roof tops when i get my call or letter! ;-)

Sandy...woohoo! Are you doing all that yourself (name tags, balloons, posters, etc? When it gets closer, for all of those who are decorating or bringing stuff for the meet and greet, we need to do a little planning as far as a meet time to start the decorations etc. If you have that covered, Erin has the big banner covered, I have the division penants taken care of for the tables, then we just need a cake, and we are good to go!  This is all coming together great! Can't wait for this day..for many reasons!

Jill what a beautiful poem! Kathy the 12 days are hilarious and they really fit us as we continue on this roller coaster.

Act you are not losing it we are just getting impatient. I don't know why ship 11 has not been able to contact us. Maybe they just haven't earned those priviledges yet. Trying my best to keep the faith.

No mail or phone call again today, I am really getting disgusted. Well maybe they are just waiting for Christmas. If so, that would be the best Christmas gift ever. Trying to keep my head up.

Hey Ladies, I'm getting a kit for our Meet & Greet at the Ramada.  Name tags, balloons, posters and all.  Hope to see you there!!!
