Thought it might be nice for everybody to say where they are staying for PIR as a means of knowing who will be in the same place, taking the shuttles, carpooling, etc. and maybe even getting together…Continue

This is the final test for the recruits before they become sailors. It is an overnight drill held on a ship replica made by Disney, so it is very realistic....the recruits face every challenge that…Continue

I am going to try and answer some of your questions but I can only see one page at a time so that is why you get multiple messages from me...lol...my memory just isn't what it used to be...can I blame that on the Navy...lol
Removing wisdom teeth...why the heck do they do that..is a question I think all navy recruit moms ask...well many of the new sailors shortly after A-school and such will be going on their first deployment ( I know, duh Lynne) well it is pretty tough to lose a Sailor for a few days from their job out their or if they had any complications it would be much harder to take care of it. Therefore they have great dentists at Boot Camp and a-school who keep an eye on things and if things look like they could be problematic take care of it before it becomes a major issue. Remember you won't hear much complaint from the recruits about it. They 2 to 3 days vacation...SIQ (sick in quarters). They are given pain meds, get to sleep day and night...and someone even brings them water and fills their canteens for them...really they call it a Ricky vacation.
Hi Dana, well ... same ship and just one division up. Wonder if our two divisions work together at all. I've heard that they do have "brother" divisions or something like that that are right across from each other in their ship. And we're the lucky ship/division that has no mail, no calls, zippo, nada!!! lol Not so funny but we gotta stick together.
Well, ladies another day no mail and no calls, but I'm continuing to keep the faith that he is doing well. I do have lots of work and 4 teenage boys to keep me VERY distracted, so the time hasn't been as painful. Today was a little rough, coming to grips with the realization that he won't be here for Christmas. However, it was just made a little worse when our daughter told us she won't be home either.
Alisha. I had to friend request you before it would allow me to send you a message. I won't be able to get a message to you until later tomorrow, but I will message you with his name. I hope that they are working well together too! So glad to have some contact with someone on his ship and division!
Congratulations ladies on your calls!!!
ACTMOM! Welcome! My daughter is in your sons ship & division! I hope they're all working well together! :) How are you doing? I'm sure our kids know each other! Can't wait to talk to my baby and find out! You can private message me with your sons name and I will do the same!
Moms...This IS temporary....Hang in there!
BLS I have been feeling the same way. I am happy for those that have received letters & cards, but I am feeling so low right now not being able to hear anything from my son. I can't sleep, no appetite and I can't stop looking at his pictures and crying. I miss him so much. I am trying to stay strong but it is really getting hard. At night seems to be the worst for me and I find myself crying whenever I do anything or go anywhere that we all did together. My son is the 2nd to last child and he, my youngest and myself pretty much did everything together because my husband works nights. I am trying to hand in there. I pray that the lord is keeping him safe and free of illness, but I need to hear him tell me that is so. I keep checking the mail and I literally had a period where I could not stop crying today when there was no letter. It truly is like mourning the death of a loved one.
Well, I have other kids here, but this past week was the hardest for me, especially yesterday. I got into some heavy duty power cleaning in my office/computer room. It's really clean, and rearranged, but wouldn't say that I feel any better. I tried to be very patient so far, but it's getting harder with each passing day. The last 2 days I look for a letter~ but nothing, then I check the phone, because I fear that I'm going to miss his call if he calls. I have read those 4 lines from the packet over and over, and it just makes me cry, because he keeps saying that he misses us A TON, and can't wait until his first phone call! It pulls at the heart, because I'm hoping that he is doing ok. His recruiter tells me not to hang on to the thought of him getting many phone calls. UGH! It's so good to hear that others are getting calls. At least we know that something is going on, and maybe we are all going to get something real soon! I haven't been sleeping well, and besides yesterday, have just felt too scatterbrained to get much accomplished, which hasn't been good for my business that I run. I just pray and ask God for strength and cry a lot to Him too! I don't feel guilty about it because I miss my son! My oldest son says that I didn't cry this much when he left for school, well. NO! He is only 45 min. away and I can see him and talk to him as much as I want every week. It almost feels like mourning the death of a loved one! Keep strong everyone. Keep posting, I know that it is helping me to hear from all of you, and knowing that we are all feeling the same things!
Don't get down BLS, keep your spirits higher than ever this year. Seems pretty out of reach huh? But think of it this way..that is about the half way mark to seeing your daughter..it's a time to be IMMENSELY proud of her. She's giving up ALOT from not being with you guys, but she's doing something that couldn't be given ENOUGH thanks for. That in itself is a great given reason to celebrate. That your daughter is a hero. YOUR FAMILY is a bunch of heroes...you're ALL suffering through this so you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just keep chuggin along, you'll be seeing her before you know it!
