Vickyrun,

I always got so filled up with their pizza I never had room to get dessert!!!!  Next time I go south I'll have to stop in there for just the Tiramisu!!!!  I can never remember the name of the plaza they are in.  I just drive until I recognize  the sign out front and turn left!!!!!!!

Oh Yes! I went there. You must get the Deep-dish pizza! and some Tiramisu! Giordano's in the Buffalo Grove shopping center in Gurnee. To Die For!

Truequeensmom,

YES!!!!  There is a famous Chicago Deep Dish pizza place called Giordano's and there is one located in Gurnee just beyond the mall in a little plaza with a Starbucks on the corner.  It's on the left side as you travel west on 132 (Grand Ave).

I forgot there is also the Six Flags Amusement Park in Gurnee.  Don't know when you are planning on being there for PIR but I know their season goes until the end of October.  Not sure how long after that.  I never went there because I think they are too expensive so I'm not real familiar with their schedule and such.

Hi Anna, I hope you don't mind answering a question for me. Is there a place that I could get deep dish pizza I that area?

Shoeysmom,

Are you planning on going into Chicago for a restaurant or to spend the day?  RTC is actually about an hour's drive north of Chicago in the town of Waukegan.  There are lots of nice restaurants that are within 15 minutes drive from RTC.  What hotel are you staying at?  If you want to go to a nice mall there is one west of Waukegan in Gurnee called Gurnee Mills.  If you want to drive a little south, there is a nice mall in Vernon Hills (Libertyville).  There are also lots of nice restaurants there.  If you want to go to Chicago, I would suggest the train but then you have to walk or get a cab.  I lived in Waukegan last year so you want or need any other info, don't hesitate to ask!!!!!

Thanks for these tips. Will use this weekend. How about travel from hotel to restaurant in Chicago? Drive or other form of transportation?
Comment by Vickyrun on October 3, 2013 at 12:35pm

We took a taxi to a restaurant after PIR. I found all the taxi drivers to be very nice.

And we took the train into Chicago on Saturday. My grandson loved the train.
