caitsmamma-wishing all the best for your daughter as she begins her journey-delays can be painful, but at least she has company.

My heart goes out to those poor travelers trying to get home-so much trauma.

I said goodbye to my daughter this morning as she left Boston MEPS for bootcamp. Her flight was supposed to leave at 2:00, but it was cancelled, so she and the 3 other recruits have to wait until 8:00 pm now.  She said that some Boston Marathon runners were on the same flight, and they looked traumatized, and one lady was crying because she just wanted to get home. It breaks my heart, on so many levels

Anyone have a daughter in AD?  Our daughter just requested this rating instead of undes, and her ship date got movd up a month, from May 29th to April 29th!! I am wondering if there is a group for AD, and also how long the A School in Pensacola is? She will be down there before our son graduates A School, which she's super excited about! We're just trying to figure out if it could be possible for them to end up coming home at the same time, since word has it that IT's get held for 1-2 months following grad, and he is set to grad on July 2nd, supposedly.

TIA for any help/advice you have for me!! :)

Awww, Shermur.

The very hardest part of this Navy journey is the separation, but be assured she misses you too.  She is off to do what she has been trained for.  What an adventure for her!!  Travel was one of the things that attracted my daughter to choose the Navy~~  What's your daughter's rate?

Well, my Navy daughter call me for the last time for quite a while.  the ship is headed out to sea and I'm so going to miss the communication I have had with her.  she was home on leave the last part of March....and it will towards the end of this year before I get to hug her again!  This new adventure will be hard!

janaismom,

My daughter requested makeup just before her pictures and I packed it in a small Priority mail box and sent it to her.  By that time they usually get an opportunity to go to the NEX and she was able to purchase some other makeup items then.  I would definitely wait until she requests what she wants.  Keep in mind, they don't have much storage space!!

mine was in a 900 division, so she could have it 3 weeks before her PIR as she performed in the two  graduations prior to hers and was able to were makeup for that and for her photos.. She wrote and asked for what to send and it arrived in a week from when I sent it.

janaismom, my daughter did get to put makeup on for pics but not sure where she got it. Some girls did receive packages, just had to open in front of RDC. Only things confiscated per my daughter was food. at least in her division. She does want me to be sure to bring it with me so she can take it along to A school!

Wait to hear from her if she wants you to send it. My daughter bought her own a week or so ago....so I didn't have to send her anything.
