Brees Mom-It is so much easier when those start coming-mine always came on Thursdays and I couldn't wait to get to the mailbox!

Congratulations micracker!!!  Glad she made it and was able to contact you!!  Hang in there  - bootcamp seems like it will never end because you won't get to hear from her very much, but it will get better!!  Within a day or two you should be able to get her address from her recruiter.  He/She has the ability to go online and find out what ship/div she's assigned to and can get the address from there.  Good luck to her and to you!!

Just received a call from my daughter that she has arrived in Chicago! Wow, still can't believe she is gone.... Sooo excited for her! Such a proud moment watching her as she swore in this am. Managed to make it thru without any tears as she asked me not to cry.

I know exactly how you feel Sara, my daughter is 20 as well, and started her 2nd year in December. She was on a 8 month deployment in the Abraham Lincoln, they pulled into Virginia this past August and the Abe will be in dry dock for about 4 years for her 25 year overhaul. The ups and downs of boot camp was rough but the N4M's website and all the ladies on the site are life savers, I don't think I could of got through it as well as I did without them.

Oh goodness blm- if she were going away to Japan I certainly wouldnt have made it to the car! :) I was only able to be brave because I knew bootcamp is 9 weeks (give or take) and I would see her again soon!

Sara - gives me hope that it gets easier :) or maybe I will get used to it? My husband was a Marine so I understand the military lifestyle, but when its your daughter its a bit harder :(

when i read post from all the new navy moms it brings back so many memories. My daughter is 20 and she has just started her 2nd year. She has already been on a 6 month deployment on the USS Eisenhower which is leaving soon for another long deployment. She was able to come home for like 2 weeks over Christmas which was great. It has been nice having her in the states so we text and talk often, and im hoping to get to Norfolk before deployment. This past year has had its ups and downs but she sure has grown...N4M has been so helpful this past year and hoping for another great year

SoCal-but i didn't start crying last time we dropped her off at airport for her her trip back to Japan till I got in the car--so I call that progress. Not any easier to let her go just a bit more control of emotions--at times LOL

SoCal. I wa s the same way at swearing in except there was only one other girl and and she was only navy. Only I didn't make it out of building

Well it is official! She swore in and flew to BC yesterday! Got our Im here text at 12:30 this morning! The group she was with was mostly girls oddly enough, many of the boys had to stay back a day. It was so moving to see her swear in - but I was able to hold it together (tear in my eye, but still ok) until we drove away! So proud of my not so little girl!
