My son will be in the Navy for 2 years, this August 25,2013.He was in the Naval Nuclear Program. He made it through "A" and Power School and started Prototype this past March. He has been diagnosed with pilonidal cysts and will have to have surgery soon.He was put on med hold on July 24th.He was diagnosed with depression with more of a dopamine deficiency. As much as they want him to stay in,because academically,he was outstanding, and hasn't had any conduct issues at all, they also told him, that they don't want any Sailor to feel like they are trapped in the Navy. The physician put him on an antidepressant yesterday. He said he was in DTP processing right now. They are giving him 30 days to vacate his apartment and relocate to NETC(NWS),so they can watch him on base.He is looking at an Administrative Discharge within 3 months,at the earliest.I am hoping sooner.
My Son went to the Unemployment Office and he is so happy he can get unemployment till he finds a job, as I told him go ask all they can say is no but they said yes just a little info
My Son did his five years in the Navy and he had plans on reinlisting but his first 7 month cruise his wife cheated on him, they had been together 7 years two married, he called me, and he would be in tears, it hurt our whole Family and I had to ask God to take the anger away from me for her so I could help my Son, now he is home and leaving tomorrow for the Base in Mayport Naval Station for a week of detachment classes but now he is looking forward to his new future and College, I am glad you Moms are here to help each other
Hi, I am new to this group- my daughter is being medically discharged from bootcamp.. I am waiting to hear when she goes to Legal.. She passed all of Bootcamp but her final pfa- she then went to fit, and did something to her leg- got sent to rcu- first they said it was stress fractures- then shin splints- then unfit and lazy- she is being discharged for ptsd- which she displayed while being in the RCU... this whole situation, really is upsetting... she intends to try to re enlist at a later time...
My daughter left for bootcamp on the 5th. Heard from her today that because she was treated for depression in middle school they are discharging her. this simply does not seem right or fair. Anyone have any insight? why should something that happened so long ago and has not re-occured be cause for her discharge?
guess i belong to this group now, my husband is being medically discharged from boot camp. how does this whole thing work? the doctors diagnosed him with depression which is totally out of character for him
my daughter was dischared from Boot Camp back in August and was told she could re-inlist after her medical condition was resolved -this has occurred - the problem seems to be that her paperwork does not specificly note her medical condition -only something like 'erroreous enlistment' - she was directed to contact, i forget now just who, to have that done BUT has never been able to get an answer at the number provided -and there is no opportunity to leave a voice mail to leave info or request a call back -- Initially she was told that when her medical treatment was complete she would simply need to take a letter to MEPS from her Doctor confirming treatment and cure....as noted above, she can not do that before having her specific med condition noted on her discharge papers ---hoping that someone out there can give some guidance on getting this done - she's been calling the number given for a couple of months and is anxious to reinlist. Any advice/direction appreciated
