Well I hope my SR has found out a few things prior to going on the Ship.  I'll have to ask him.  Fan is another great idea.

Thank you

Actually she packed the blender & took with her when she deployed. I've since sent her more protein powder tho. There's a good peanut butter one at Costco that she loves - just add water - and ice if she can get it. Also if there happens to be banana at chow she'll grab a couple. But you need the blender w/ blades if you want to make a smoothie, not the shaker with the ball.

Yes very good idea, I will have to note that, my son doesnt really think to much about stuff like that, so If I do I may score points! LOL thanks. So Oleander when you shipped the blender did you also send the protein powder? I know I use to get him stuff like that when he was in wrestling. some good info. Thanks Ladies

My daughter got a pretty good idea of what to expect because they went underway training for about a year before they deployed - sometimes for weeks at a time. We found the blender on amazon. She also bought herself a small battery operated fan for her rack - sometimes the air is pretty still down there, plus it offers a bit of white noise. Not much but apparently it helps a little.

Very good to know I will ask my SR.  about sending him items like that.  Never thought of the blender

ok I will be writing some of these things down, I figure I better talk with him while there in Great Lakes to find out what he may be wanting me to send. I know once he get deployed that will be another thing I will have to deal with. but all info is Great Thanks Ladies. So Glad to be here and to learn what is needed.

Phoemixmom, the care pkgs I'm sending are going overseas to my daughter who is deployed on a ship. The chow lines are long and sometimes the food isn't all that great so she likes me to send things that are as healthy as possible. I bought her a battery operated blender (rechargeable via usb) so she can make smoothies w/ protein powder when she wants. Also crackers, flavored tuna packets, granola, nut & fruit mix, microwavable meals - stuff like that. I've also send her things like playing cards, gel insoles for her boots, pictures of family. We never sent her care packages at A school.

I cried on a daily basis.  It got easier and it is when they are stateside. Can face time him and text.  It's when he will be in Japan that will probably send me over the edge for a bit.  I'm trying to be strong.

I am taking his Tablet and his Headphones to Graduation but he told me no phone, he wants to purchase a new one later when he has time so calling cards is what I have been sending and alot of stamps. I figure he knows what he wants so I am ok with that. He wants to start being able to take responsibility for his actions and for what he is wanting, its so hard for me not to be able to be mom like I was because he is so far and growing up to be such a young Gentleman. I knew this time was coming but I'm having a hard time with that, hes not my little boy anymore. thank you for that information.

Does he have his phone yet.  I asked my SR what he needed and depending on what he was allowed we sent snacks, books he requested and eventually clothes.  No Red Bull or Energy drinks.  Not allowed.
