My son has graduated from Boot Camp and is now formally a sailor.  He is attending his A school in Great Lakes and is a GSM.  He will be training as a Gas Turbine Mechanic.  Can any moms or loved ones with experience advise if this is for the Ships or Aircrafts?  Presuming Ships...  If so, what kind of ship?

My son is going to be in San Diego working with the Marines....didn't expect that one. He would like to come home but we're trying to figure out how the leave works. Does a 15 day leave mean straight days or 5 days per week? And the travel voucher. Can that only be used from Chicago to San Diego or from different airports?

He said yes cause if not I am going to fly to see him in Great Lakes for he leaves.

My son is also currently in A school for GSM and was told last week he will be going to Japan. I'm going to miss him so much.

He could technically but the overall travel expenses would exceed what he has allotted and saved together if he comes here first.

He won't give me any details as to the school program itself, but he seems to be doing well so far. He has made friends but I can tell that he misses us. He calls frequently over the weekends and I can sometimes hear it in his voice that he is more than a little homesick. He won't ever admit to it though. But a mother knows her children.
