Sue, the leader of the Heads at Ease group that makes pillowcases for deployed and injured military personnel, announced that we are pleased to be providing hand-made pillowcases to all the crew of the USS New York. These are to commemorate the commissioning of this very special ship.

I requested that the members of this group who have a loved one serving on the USS New York make me a friend on N4M. When you do, please put "I'm a USS NY Mom" (even if you are a dad, spouse, girl/boyfriends, etc.). I will then PM you some information that will help us.

So far only four moms have contacted me. I know that many of you are at the commissioning but please contact me when you return. Many thanks!

I love that you are using his photo for your profile!

I am a USS NY mom and I am ready to participate in sending things to our soldiers.  I have several family members, coworkers and friends that are wanting to help put care packages together for our ship however I do not know how or where to send them.  Can you help? I sew as well so I would love to help make pillow cases for the ship.  Please contact me.  Thanks Beth

I'm a USS NY Mom - my son has been assigned and will be reporting prior to Christmas. I'm so excited for him and would like to get involved and join your group.  I am a quilter and love to sew. Please fill me in. my email address is caw424@verizon.net

Hi - my son just joined the USS New York.  I am very interested in helping them obtain pillow cases.  I notice that this site goes back to the commissioning of the ship.  As of today 12/28/11 I met and talked with a few of his new crew/shipmates and there is a shortage of pillowcases (very hard to come by)  they did receive a new influx of crew including my son.  I do quilt and want to start making some pillowcases to send to them.  They will be deployed in spring 2012 for several months.  Any suggestions or ideas how I can go about doing this?  my email address is caw424@verizon.net thank you

jeanne

And we are doing this again in 2015.  If you can sew and would like to make some, we welcome your help.

It's really nice when the families of the ships help with donations of fabric, shipping $ and making pillowcases..  HAE is a grassroots group that is totally done with donations.

Thanks!

I'm not too handy with needle, thread, sewing machines, etc. but I'm happy to donate to help with this!  I'd love my son to have one of these.  He joined the crew in 2011, was out on the last deployment, but missed receiving a pillow case in the first round!  Please pm  me with info on where to send $$ to help out!  Thank you so much for doing this!

I will do that and thank you!

Wave 1 for the 2015 deployment begins on 4-25 thru 4-28.  We will mail every other week until we are finished.

Please help us bring some comfort to your sailors by sewing pcs, donating fabric or donating $ for shipping or fabric.

Thanks!

We mailed 626 to the NY in wave 1!  We need 394 pillowcases to complete the USS New York in 2 waves!  Do you have any made that you can send in wave 2?

Thank you to Brenda for your donation of shipping $.  It really helps!
