Sandi8, my son is also in Lemoore working on F18s. When did your son graduate boot camp? I wonder if our boys know each other.

My son had a few weeks of C school when he arrived in Lemoore, CA. Then it was straight to work! Long days but he likes it (mostly). He works on F 18's. Right now I am enjoying having him home for a few days! We live in Illinois and it was the Chicago Air and Water Show weekend . I asked if he wanted to go and he said, " I see airplanes all day!" So that was a no. Lots of sailors straight from boot camp wandering around looking lost in downtown Chicago yesterday! Poor things.

i heard the waiting is getting longer, my husband was there last year and it took him a month to class up. He will enjoy his time there though...its florida :P . I hope he gets helicopters, that is what my husband wanted as well. i think they find out like the week before if they class up or not. my husband was constantly checking the list. :)

We got married in Pensacola and nobody told us anything about what to do to add me as a dependant or how to move with a family... I guess they just assumed all he would have to take was his sea bag.... Thank god my cousin who's husband is in the airforce was stationed in Pensacola and could help direct us on what to do!!!

That's good news Peggy, glad you heard from your daughter!! I sent you a friend request ;-)  Our daughter struggled when she first got to A School, though boot camp wasn't hard on her - she said it was pretty much exactly what she expected - but as I mentioned before, all the random stuff they had them doing at first down in P'cola didn't sit well with her, also she said they felt like they all got dropped on their butts when they got there, nobody was helpful and just said handed them paperwork & sad get this done (watch quals and all of that), but never explained how or where, so that first week was pretty rough. The boys said their yeoman were very helpful and didn't experience that - but they heard there were other complaints on the girl's side from the past, and that they would be getting a talking to about it. lol - hopefully they have changed their attitudes for the new Sailor girls coming in. Anyhow, it took her a few weeks to adjust, but she seems to have been having a lot of fun this past few weeks, and now she has to get serious and stay focused on the class.

Thank you again to the seasoned members here, for sharing all this info - it's good to learn more about AD!!!
