Thanks, UrabissWife - my son did drive over with a buddy to have lunch with us on the 5th, which was cool. I'll tell him about the chit details. Appreciate the info!

hi bluewater :) my husband is an AD , it took him a month to class up , then a month of schooling then it was off to C school :)

KJ'sMom your son can get a chit to leave to come see you guys alone. my husband was able to leave on liberty when I moved to be with him without a liberty buddy. before he got the chit I went in an signed him out as his liberty buddy then they told him what to do to make it so I didn't have to go in there. :) I hope it all works out so he can go home and visit. I know there is a certain amount of mileage they can go during A school before they put in a leave chit, im not sure how far that is though.

Hi all, my son is starting his 7th week in Pensacola...arrived June 1 and is still waiting to class up. He is now Phase 3. As we only live 110 miles away in Panama City, we were able to take his car over there, which I'm sure makes life a bit more "normal". In Phase 3, they can drive - but still have to come and go with a Liberty buddy. If anybody plans to travel this way, please don't hesitate to contact if you need info, etc. I am not an expert on Pcola - but my daughter also is living there, so one way or another, we might be able to help. Now if our monsoon rains would only stop!!!

While they are waiting, they do fun stuff like barracks support, i.e., clean the same spot over and over. Or fire patrol (which is not the right term, I am sure), which is walking around and checking fire exits and extinguishers. Things like that.

Hi Bluewater,  It is great to hear that your son is settling in pretty well.  How long has he been waiting for school to start?  What do they do while they wait for the class to start?

Welcome, Bluewater! Hope your son is getting settled in Pensacola. Our son loved it there and we had a really nice visit to Florida, too. Our sailor is stationed in Lemoore, CA working on F18's.

Hello everyone I'm new to the AD group my son just graduated June 21st 2013 from Great Lakes and is in Pensacola for AD school just wanted to say hello and would love any info you can give me on Pensacola and the classes thank you everyone.

yes they are, even though it make take a bit to class up, they still phase up. I maybe be a few days off but I believe phase one lasts about a week phase 2 is about 2 weeks then phase 3 until they get foxtrotted ( if they are chosen) .  its best for him to get all of his quals done ASAP.  and to make sure he is on his toes all the time. they have random room inspections at some barracks and if he gets a hit on an inspection he will get sent back to phase one :/ .....all the barracks there are different though. my husband was in bravo barracks. :)
