This is especially for wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, or fiances.

Everyone has a different experience throughout this whole process.  My husband started signing up in July of 2010 and did not leave for bootcamp until March 29th 2011, so we have pretty much been through a lot this last year and I would love to help everyone that I can understand things that I did not when we first started. He is now in the middle of A-school and I guess so are we.  It has not always been fun, but it is worth it in the end. I say this is especially for spouses becuase pay, and things like that are different for us, but mom, dads and anyone else is more than welcome to join.  I look forward to hearing from everyone, and hope that I can help you along the way.  This page is for newly married about to get married, or just being a new Navy spouse in general.  My husband and I have been together 6 years and married over 2 years now.  We have a 3 year old son.  Watching the children go through this is very difficult because they do not fully understand what is going on.  I am here to help!!!!  I have lots of ideas and experiences to share!!!!

ATI-  From my experience if his C-school is going to be where his permanent duty station is going to be than they move you.  I am not sure what happens if it is not.  With C-school they have to pay to live on base or they get their housing allowance taken away.  The free barracks is for single people only, but it may be different if their family lives in a different state not sure on that.  As soon as he has his orders and you can provide "page 2" which is his dependent page to the housing commission he can get on the list, by faxing his orders and that page.  You do not have to live here for a period of time it just goes by what is available.  If you do not have an animal you have a way better chance.  We were very lucky to find a place so quickly out here.  The only bills you have are your extras i.e. cable, phone, car insurance......  This is his C-school and his first duty station.  This is just our own personal experience that we have just went through.  We signed our base housing lease today and it will be ready October 5th.  You are also re-embursed for 10 days of hotel by the way.

Bsobo-  Which one whites, blues, NWU's (digi camo)???  Take a look on my page I had my son's made he had the whites.  NWU's can be purchesed on pretty much any base at the NEX or on the NEX online and I'm sure blues would have to be made too... Good Luck finding a pair I searched high and low!!! LOL

I have some ?'s i need some answers to if someone can please answer them for me ... Is it only A School that has to be 6 months or more for the navy to move you  or is that C School too ?? When your in C School can u live on base ? Do you have to be there for a certain amount of time to be able to live on base ? What bills do u have to pay while living on base ?? Thanx

Thanks Skell, I am planning on going out there before I move so I hope to have an apartment by the time I move out there! He will be there for A and C school so for about a year & a half... It seems like a long time but it really isn't so that was very helpful advice about not taking all my stuff.... Now just to figure out what to take and what not to take!

Abuon-  I was lucky enough to have family out here already also in the military so we are staying with them until our place is ready.  I would recommend not taking all your stuff with you when you move out there just pack your car and put the rest in storage.  They have hotels out here with weekly rates and I know it seems like a long time to live in a hotel, but it will save you guys a ton of money.  Apartments and houses are not cheap to rent out here at all just for a studio apt. you are looking at at least 1000 that doesn't include and utilites.  At least with a hotel you don't have to worry about first and last or utilites.  I've lived in less at times in my life LOL, and my things have been in storage for a year and a half but it has been easier to leave it somewhere safe than move it all over the country.  Until he gets his permenate duty station I wouldn't move any of it.   water bills are super high out here and electric is too.  Basically it is way super expensive to live out here.  Good Luck this is just my advice so take it or leave it I'm not telling you what to do by any means just an idea to get you started is all..  If you have any questions please let me know.
