Hello, everyone my name is Amanda. Thank you for joining this group! I have recently went through the whole process of becoming a PROUD NAVY WIFE.  I am starting this group to help all the new spouses on your journey.  Ask me anything!!!!

This is especially for wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, or fiances.

Everyone has a different experience throughout this whole process.  My husband started signing up in July of 2010 and did not leave for bootcamp until March 29th 2011, so we have pretty much been through a lot this last year and I would love to help everyone that I can understand things that I did not when we first started. He is now in the middle of A-school and I guess so are we.  It has not always been fun, but it is worth it in the end. I say this is especially for spouses becuase pay, and things like that are different for us, but mom, dads and anyone else is more than welcome to join.  I look forward to hearing from everyone, and hope that I can help you along the way.  This page is for newly married about to get married, or just being a new Navy spouse in general.  My husband and I have been together 6 years and married over 2 years now.  We have a 3 year old son.  Watching the children go through this is very difficult because they do not fully understand what is going on.  I am here to help!!!!  I have lots of ideas and experiences to share!!!!

abuon- HA, HA, HA! Too funny! Gone that route though (it was prescribed :o)
Okay, this MAY sound hokey...but try a "sleep" cd. I think it's Lifescapes. I got one at Target. I have struggled with insomnia...DH is law enforcement and AF reserves...just finished a deployment so the "not sleeping" amped up!
The hardest part...actually making yourself get into bed!

I am down here with my hubby in P-cola and I can tell you that I wish I would not have come.  I mean don't get me wrong I love the time we have together when it's available.  They do not have a lot of time and I sometimes feel as if I'm being ignored or that he is possibly lying to me (which is just something in my head) I get paranoid sometimes because of the things I see around here.  It has been fun at times, but it costs a lot of money to do things around here plus the living cost.  Just be glad you are saving money and going through the drama down here!!!!  Relax and enjoy the times when he gets to call.  Hope this helps......

Shock- My husband is currently at A school in Flordia and I live with his familty and they act mean to me a lot but I ignore them and know that I am living here for him. I really do miss him to me I think since they get to talk to you veryday it makes you miss them more because you are stil waiting for those calls like in bootcamp. Just take everyday at a time for a while I was getting overwhelmed thinking to much into the future. Someone in the navy told me this " days go by slow but weeks fly by" I tell myself that everyday and that life goes on . So while he is in FL like mine is I suggest maybe start making a list of what you guys will need when he moves to his fleet (which is his duty station they call it fleet) I feel the same though I hate it but he is worth it sacrafices come alomg with any kind of relationship itll only make you and your relationship stronger. I wish you the best of luck and if you need anyone to talk to since we are going through the same thing. I am here

Kac I wish that was the case for us my hubby graduates in two weeks now and we still do not have hard copies!!!  No one in his class does yet either.  They are all kinda freaking out right now.  It's crazy.  They told us that if they do not have them out by time they graduate they have to hang around there till they get them.  Won't that be crazy!!!!!  I hope that will not be the case we wait everyday for them, but it's just not happening.  Anyway how is everyone doing???  Haven't heard from some of you in a while keep us informed!!!!  I wish everyone the best

Hey illysha!

Your guy is a Nuke, huh? Welcome to the club! :)
You'll probably find that Nukes are a lil different from everyone else. They have different rules and they're schooling is a lot different. My fiance is in Prototype which is the third school they go to. They have A school first which is a different length for each rate. MMs are only three months while EMs and ETs are six months. They find out their rate about week 5 in boot. Then they go on hold (T-Track) until they start Power School which is six months for everyone. Then hold (Grad hold) until Prototype (6 months). Thennn it's out to the fleet. :)

If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer. :)

A schools different, they usually dont change. I know corpsman school relocated from chicago to texas but thats the only one ive ever seen. If his school is in S.C Then he propbably is going ot S.C Id join the group for your guys rate/job and ask there where the A school is.

Thanks guys! Do you know when they'll give my husband his written orders? They've told him that we'll be in Charleston SC for a yeat for A school. But like you said it's not written in stone
