Advice for new spouses

Hello, everyone my name is Amanda. Thank you for joining this group! I have recently went through the whole process of becoming a PROUD NAVY WIFE.  I am starting this group to help all the new spouses on your journey.  Ask me anything!!!!

This is especially for wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, or fiances.

Everyone has a different experience throughout this whole process.  My husband started signing up in July of 2010 and did not leave for bootcamp until March 29th 2011, so we have pretty much been through a lot this last year and I would love to help everyone that I can understand things that I did not when we first started. He is now in the middle of A-school and I guess so are we.  It has not always been fun, but it is worth it in the end. I say this is especially for spouses becuase pay, and things like that are different for us, but mom, dads and anyone else is more than welcome to join.  I look forward to hearing from everyone, and hope that I can help you along the way.  This page is for newly married about to get married, or just being a new Navy spouse in general.  My husband and I have been together 6 years and married over 2 years now.  We have a 3 year old son.  Watching the children go through this is very difficult because they do not fully understand what is going on.  I am here to help!!!!  I have lots of ideas and experiences to share!!!!

hahaha skell im mid freak out too. Though you have everything all over the U.S, thats stressfull i dunno how i'd deal with that! Plus we are both first time movers and dunno whats up, i feel like im bothing every person that i call. I just got off the phone with housing for norfolk and looks like we have a 1-3 month wait so that gives us a lil time to compose ourselves lol.

From what ive seen around the dite hard copies come out about a month before grad. Thats around when we got ours.

Oh LOL It is really good information tho so I wanted to thank you anyway.  I wish we would get the hard copy for whatever reason they are waiting to hand them out here.  It's driving me crazy.  We have so little time I feel like its all moving so fast I just don't know what to do next.  We are in Florida, but all of our things are still in Michigan.  So, my son and I have to travel back to Michigan to release our things to the truck then make our way to Cali if that's where it's going to be meanwhile making sure we have a place......... I'm freakin out LOL  I hope everyone else has a smoother transition!!!!

Welcome pink and illysha it's nice to have you here!!!!  Pink I know what you are going through.  We also moved in with our parents.  That was a hard pill to swallow, but it was the best thing we could have done at the time.  Saved a lot of money that is for sure.  We have a 3 year old that was having a hard time at first and even through out boot camp when he actually thought about it, but things have gotten easier over time.  You guys need to join this FB page it is a lifesaver.....

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand

It is the inside of Bootcamp.  They take random pics and I found my hubby in two of them.  It was awesome this is where they announce battlestations, captains cup, and winners!!!!!  Don't miss out on the info its amazing!!!!

Kac I understand all that.  Since he got his orders late due to some problems we ran into with clearence which is all fine now ours probably won't change they came from an email they recieved from Tennesse just haven't got the hard copy yet. But he graduates from here Aug. 8th so we need to get things movin LOL!!!   Thanks for the information tho it will def. help the others on here!!!!!!

Verbal orders are orders that they recieve before getting formal ones. Like "You may go to Norfolk" Its not written in stone and can change. Hardcopy written orders are the ones that are written, and handed to your sailor say exactly where and when he is to report

Hello! Thanks for inviting me to this group! My name is Illysha and my husband left for bootcamp on July 13. It's been rough but I'm just taking it day by day. We have a 5 month old son together and I'm sure he's noticed that Daddy's not around. I just got my form letter yesterday and I'm waiting for a real letter or at least a phone call. Just waiting around for the mail is a little upsetting. Reading and commenting on some of the discussions on N4M has really lifted my spirits. I love this website! Before I found it I felt so alone and confused. Thanks for all the support and answering all of my questions ladies! It's helped a lot more than you know. I can't wait for us to move and start our new lives! Just a quick question. What are verbal orders?
Comment by Lvemyabej on July 25, 2011 at 6:19pm
