Hello, everyone my name is Amanda. Thank you for joining this group! I have recently went through the whole process of becoming a PROUD NAVY WIFE.  I am starting this group to help all the new spouses on your journey.  Ask me anything!!!!

This is especially for wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, or fiances.

Everyone has a different experience throughout this whole process.  My husband started signing up in July of 2010 and did not leave for bootcamp until March 29th 2011, so we have pretty much been through a lot this last year and I would love to help everyone that I can understand things that I did not when we first started. He is now in the middle of A-school and I guess so are we.  It has not always been fun, but it is worth it in the end. I say this is especially for spouses becuase pay, and things like that are different for us, but mom, dads and anyone else is more than welcome to join.  I look forward to hearing from everyone, and hope that I can help you along the way.  This page is for newly married about to get married, or just being a new Navy spouse in general.  My husband and I have been together 6 years and married over 2 years now.  We have a 3 year old son.  Watching the children go through this is very difficult because they do not fully understand what is going on.  I am here to help!!!!  I have lots of ideas and experiences to share!!!!

We were told that if there were more than 2 dependents you had to get a waiver for that to get to bootcamp.  We were told the same thing no more children until after boodcamp.  I'm not sure if it is true or not I just know that we couldn't have a baby for a year.  Now we can so i am excited because we wanted another one....  I remember when when my husband was getting ready to leave I was so sad.  It was the hardest day I experienced in a long time, but now living through it I look back and laugh.  It really went by so fast and graduation was awesome.  Now I can see him everyday if I want to (except duty day) and I know he will go on a deployment eventually, but I am ok with that and It is thanks to the experience of boot camp.  No I do not want him gone (all the time LOL), but at least I know we will make it through.  Having this web site really helped me and following on FB was awesome I knew what he was doing before he did it was funny he would call to tell me something and I would already know it.  He called it bootcamp stalking LOL...  Good Luck to you guys!!!!

You will get the form letter in about 2 weeks or so, that will have his official boot camp graduation date on it.  The kid in the box will come first but thats simply just everything your sailor was wearing the day he left. Check pockets and stuff i heard some people leave notes to loved ones, mine wasnt quite as romantic lol

Kac, Will we know after he get there...like when his mom get the "kid in a box"?

Mommie, bootcamp varies. Usually 8 weeks, 7 if he is in a push division which jsut mean they push the sailors through all the learning faster. Mine was in for 9 1/2 weeks because of holidays. He went over Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years annnnd Martin Luther King day. So each holiday pushed them back.

How long is bootcamp....8 or 9 weeeks. My bf keeps telling 9...but i thought it was 8. Im trying to plan a trip to GL when to see his graduation. I have one big problem....His mother. She acts like she does not want me to go or do anything for him before he leaves. I had planed to take him to MEPS and throw his a going away party...but she is like why are you doing this. On one hand i think she thinks that Im steping on her toes about trying to do things for him before he goes...but on the other hand I think she is trying to push me away....kinda. My bf and I have been together for 7 years.

Kac...we are counting down the days until he leaves...43 days. Then I will start counting the days until PIR.
