Advice for new spouses

Hello, everyone my name is Amanda. Thank you for joining this group! I have recently went through the whole process of becoming a PROUD NAVY WIFE.  I am starting this group to help all the new spouses on your journey.  Ask me anything!!!!

This is especially for wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, or fiances.

Everyone has a different experience throughout this whole process.  My husband started signing up in July of 2010 and did not leave for bootcamp until March 29th 2011, so we have pretty much been through a lot this last year and I would love to help everyone that I can understand things that I did not when we first started. He is now in the middle of A-school and I guess so are we.  It has not always been fun, but it is worth it in the end. I say this is especially for spouses becuase pay, and things like that are different for us, but mom, dads and anyone else is more than welcome to join.  I look forward to hearing from everyone, and hope that I can help you along the way.  This page is for newly married about to get married, or just being a new Navy spouse in general.  My husband and I have been together 6 years and married over 2 years now.  We have a 3 year old son.  Watching the children go through this is very difficult because they do not fully understand what is going on.  I am here to help!!!!  I have lots of ideas and experiences to share!!!!

Thank you....more then you ladies know....Im trying to firgure everything out like his PIR and making sure I know where he is going to A school...He has his last DEP meeting in about three weeks..but every time I ask him something about it or to try to find out info about what is going on...He just dont really tell me much.

mommie, gotcha. sometimes the recruiters just dont want to file the required paperwork/ extra work it entails to add dependants. If you get married now youll get BAH and insurance for you and his baby (im not sure about your other son your guy may need to adopt BUT another source would be better them me to tell you that one =])

Getting married in A school was a trip to plan lol. I can give you info on that when the time comes, first just get through bootcamp. Goes faster then you think!

You'be got a lot of great ladies here and you will enjoy your PIR group (Pass in Review,Boot Camp and Graduation group when you BF gets his grad date) too. No, unfortunately, sometimes even the best if friends don't know how you feel. But everyone here will!

I am just a Navy girlfriend right now.....but that is changing soon...if the plans go though. My boyfriend leave Sept 1 for bootcamp. We have a child together and have been talking about getting married when he is done with bootcamp. As far as we know right now he is going to A school in GL also. I have alot of questions and trying to make friends that knows what I am going though...right now. Everyone tells me that everything will be okay....but no one know how I feel.

...I asked my hubby about the "safety" where he was at. Had seen someone's blog about how "safe" it was (same base-he was "inside"...mine was base defense).
I asked,"So how often DOES the klaxon go off?"
"Every day with a '...y' in it."

"What did you do on your day off?"
"Sat on the floor of my CHU (Contained Housing Unit- their living quarters) and read." (Sandbags only go up to bottom of windows.)

Both times that he has deployed I "catch up" on military movies. Last time "B H Down" came out while he was gone and "We Were Soldiers". This time, DVD, "The Hurt Locker" , "Jarhead", "Stop Loss".
Why??? I STILL haven't made the connection...just put it down to wanting to be close to him somehow.
Grandma-BWAA-HA-HA! Now I feel better knowing I am not the only one doing that to the TV!

Here is a gift idea for those that are "allowed"to do it! I sent this to my DH in Iraq. He carried it when he could and out it by his bed at night.

Ladies...I don't have a SEAL for a husband...he is AF reserves...and has deployed twice. Just came off our second. He is also law enforcement as his "real"job. Very much a "Command Man"! Doesn't compare to the life of a SEAL...lot's of not knowing and no asking. But I know a little about the separation of a deployment. I commend you for persevering to ne one of the 10%! These are the stories the public needs to hear!
Personally I think these men need a good woman BECAUSE of what they do!
I have a book by a woman who is married to a retired SEAL. "Hope for the Homefront" by Marshele Carter Waddell. It is Christian based. (Disclaimer...I am not affiliated with Mrs. Waddell in any way nor do I receive any gain from promoting her book).
