While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello, everyone my name is Amanda. Thank you for joining this group! I have recently went through the whole process of becoming a PROUD NAVY WIFE. I am starting this group to help all the new spouses on your journey. Ask me anything!!!!

This is especially for wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, or fiances.

Everyone has a different experience throughout this whole process. My husband started signing up in July of 2010 and did not leave for bootcamp until March 29th 2011, so we have pretty much been through a lot this last year and I would love to help everyone that I can understand things that I did not when we first started. He is now in the middle of A-school and I guess so are we. It has not always been fun, but it is worth it in the end. I say this is especially for spouses becuase pay, and things like that are different for us, but mom, dads and anyone else is more than welcome to join. I look forward to hearing from everyone, and hope that I can help you along the way. This page is for newly married about to get married, or just being a new Navy spouse in general. My husband and I have been together 6 years and married over 2 years now. We have a 3 year old son. Watching the children go through this is very difficult because they do not fully understand what is going on. I am here to help!!!! I have lots of ideas and experiences to share!!!!

Glad I could help trust me as soon as school is over it's a whole different world. When you ladies get out here or even before find me on facebook I have lot's of resources out here. Just type in tigers456@hotmail.com to find me :) Actually any of you ladies can!!!! Jessica I will just say make sure you research the area around Orleck Heights. I'm not sure where that is. My husband has been there about 6 weeks now (we got married while he was home on leave so no real wedding) but I am VERY excited and cannot wait to be there just for the fact since I have been in college we have had a long distance relationship so I am ready to see him! (I am graduating a semester early so 3.5 years) I actually got a call from housing just today that they have a place for us, Orleck Heights because we have two dogs. I do have to call back tomorrow to "confirm" so hopefully that will be fine because I am definitely saying yes! My husband has had to live on the ship since he got there and he is underway for the next several weeks so he will be so excited to hear we have a home when he gets back and he wont have to sleep in a tiny rack!

Your so right! Looking at the advantages is awesome point. These are things that I am going to have to continue learning because right now it just seems like negative news after negative news since I haven't even really thought about deployments yet. What is your hubby's rate? (I believe that's what it's called lol) learning all the lingo is fun.

As far as out wedding I haven't put really any thought into it because of the uncertainty of when he will be home. I wanted to do a small beach wedding, we are from California so that would be nice and close for our family to attend.

I have looked at AHRN but haven't registered yet... He's still in GL but will be in San Diego in about a month so we're just kind of waiting right now until he's out there and can talk to someone about everything and get some advice on the best options for us!

At the bottom of that page it says see what's available or something like that. That link will take you to the hot sheet. This is it for October just for an example.

Comment by skell456 (AO wife) on October 19, 2011 at 3:34pm: I see well I don't know how much money you have saved, but it is very expensive to move into a place so if you wanted military housing at sometime then do not commit to a long term lease....I'm glad we did base housing because I don't have to worry about anything while he is gone. He leaves in about a month for his first deplyment. I don't even have to buy light bulbs one goes out and they come change it. It's great... Plus I feel really safe. Ours has a house alram system in it and I love that feature......It's nice to start out this way. Yes I know some people want to get money back well I know that there are a few out here that do not take all of your housing allowance. Ours does just because we have a bunch of features. Are you using the AHRN.com too??

Comment by abuon18 on October 19, 2011 at 3:29pm: I've looked at the Lincoln Military Housing website before but have not found the 'hot sheet' you're talking about... once we get which base he'll be on I'll check that out! The reason we weren't really looking to get base housing is because we won't be married before I move out there.

It's harder if you have dogs like we did most places you can only have cats. Check out my link in the moving discussion above. Lincoln military is the housing out here you can find the hot sheet those are the places and when they are available. We had to wait three weeks simply because we have a dog. If we didn't we could have had a place the day we moved here.
