thanks, kellig! My son arrived at Keesler on Saturday night. He was lucky enough to get to come home for a couple of days during Holiday stand down. He really likes the base and seems happy to be there. I'm looking forward to connecting with other AG moms! Is there a Facebook group as well?

No, there isn't really much information.  The biggest thing that was different than boot camp was the communication.  My son was able to take his phone and laptop with him so we could talk whenever we wanted.  If things haven't changed much, he will start his classes with other branches (Air Force and Army I think).  I think that was about half the time, then after that will be just Navy.

Hi Everyone! My son will be heading to Keesler after his PIR on 12/28. Would love to know what he/I can expect, how it's different from boot camp, etc. There's not a lot of info on the website that I can find. Thank you!

Hi kristinelynn.  My son has been out of A school since March of 2011 but I don't think much has changed.  I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.  Has he actually started his classes yet?

My son left today for a school. Any information that the veterans could give would be greatly appreciated

Hello there,  my son is an AG and is having a great time.  These first few weeks were the toughest but the moms on here are a great way to pass the time til PIR.  It's been almost two years but it really doesnt seem that long.  If you have any questions, be sure to ask!

Hi - new to the site (love it, great info by the way!) my son left for basic 6/19 and is AG - A school in Biloxi.  I'm a wreck today - I just found out his dad recieved his "box" on Friday and didn't think to let me know that. (great guy - but we've been divorced 14 yrs) I knew my son would send his box to his dad, as I'm assuming the first form letter will go to him as well - but I feel "out of the loop".  I know he can only contact one of us due to time limitations.....but dang does this suck!   Glad to have this site to help keep me informed.

My son is heading to oceanography/meteorology school in the next year.  Is this the right group?  Is it located in Mississippi?  Then are they sent out to other posts or ships?  Any information you have would be helpful.  Thanks!

This group will not overwhelm you at all.  This a a great place to come since there aren't so many on this particular site.  kellig and I had sons in A school together in Biloxi altho now they are pretty far apart.  We're FB friends and try to keep in touch that way.  Your PIR is in June, just a few weeks away! Hope you have all your travel plans made. It will be a lot of fun.
