I'm fairly new to the site. How often do the classes start up? Do the sailors live in apartments?

ex. E ship will be out to sea, for 45days, he's saying he'll be on it for 25 days? Before he even went to A-School, he was telling me about......not having to stay on a ship with whole time it's out to sea. I'm not sure, where he gets his info....lol
I no longer tell him, info I know. He gets mad at me, when our info doesn't match....hahaha
Moms know nothing about the Navy :)

KYmom - It didn't make sense to me. Why wouldn't he be out as long as the ship is? I can't seen him being taken off of a ship for really no reason, other than the ones you've listed,

KYmom - I have anther question for you :)

Our son told us, if a ship is deployed for 5 months (ex), it doesn't mean.....he'll be deployed for the whole 5 months. Is this true?
"All AGs, on board, we will return you back to your home port, after 3months. It's no problem to head back out, where we were, for the rest of the deployment."

How long is your son assigned to a ship, before moving onto a new one?

LOL......Now, I understand. :)

LOL KYmom - I thought, he got a call, while on leave, he had to be back. I'm dumb, cause I read that 50 times, to make sure that's what happened

Debbie B - He was got to, his first duty station, in Norfolk, VA on Tues. It sounds like, he's having a rough time adjusting. I told him, what to expect. He wouldn't be on shore working behind a desk.......you'll have a lot of sea time. Being 19, he never wants to listen to Mom :) Once he gets settled, he'll do just fine.
KYMOM's Sailor was home on leave. He had to cut his leave short because they needed him. It sounds like, they are on call 24/7. Not even at home, they are safe.
When did/does your Sailor start A-School? What was he doing before?
Comment by Debbie B. on July 23, 2010 at 2:39pm
Thanks Jess 23 - It sounds like things just happen when they happen. Does your son like what he is doing?
