Our Sailor was suppose to start boot camp in July 09. Due to all the AGs, he didn't go til Dec. 09. After boot camp, he went to Biloxi, MS for A-School......was suppose to start A-School in March, but didn't start til May, due to not enough instructors. I'm thinking A-School was 12wks? We have another Sailor, who's on the George W. Bush, cooking for the Sailors. Our AG tried getting on his ship, but they have enough AGs. They put them where ever they are needed.

Our son is on SGOT (sea duty), so he is assigned to a ship. From what I heard, it will be one of many. He can go on any ship, in Nolfolk VA. I guess, it depends if your sailor is sea duty or not......whether they will be assigned to a ship.
Kymom knows a lot about AGs. I found out a lot of info, from her. Go back and read some of her posts.

How long is training for this job and where is the training? Are all of the aereographers assigned to ships? If they are out on ships, where are their home ports? Are there any on subs? My son has switched fields to this one. How often do they train as it doesn't seem like alot of people do this job. Thanks for any information.

I hope I'm not talking about anyone's AG, in here. Our Sailor had his room changed, due to another roommate. This kid had dirty condoms all over the room. Our Sailor found moldy pizza, in one of his drawers. I guess the room was in pretty bad shape. When inspection came, they didn't get very good reviews. Maybe with his new room......things will get better for him.

Farkus - LOL @ your son thinking, there won't be a lot of sea time. By now, our kids should know.....Mama is always right :).

Jess23 Haha In my mind and heart I did both to her !! My son is 21 and I have to let him make choices in his own . It's just hard.;( It has got to kill you that your son is lonely . It did me when mine got to Boloxi . He called me everyday sometimes twice a day. Then he made friends and never calls LOL . My son is under the impression that it is rare to get sea duty as well. He is thinking the same as your son ! Crazy ! keep us posted on your son !!

aawwww......KYmom - that is very very nice of you!!!!!!!!! What's your son's name? When are you heading to VA? What ship did your son end up on? I was texting him, today. He said, it's just bad when he's alone :( It breaks my heart to hear that.

I haven't heard about another ship, just the Enterprise. He's trying toget on the George W. Bush........his brother is on that ship. As of right now, they don't need AGs. His brother will be home, this time, next week. After his leave, they can hang out.

Farkus: WOW!!!!!!!!!! I would of broke her ring finger and gave her another finger....hahaha I got the same thing, from our son......Whether you like it or not, she's going to be apart of my life. With your son, not telling you much, if anything about their relationship.......I can relate to that, too. Mothers have ears like bats. I heard him telling his Dad, he bought her a ring. He said, he didn't want to tell me cause he knew, I wouldn't be too happy about it.

Every thing in life is a choice. Every choice comes a consequence.......whether good or bad. They choose their consequence. Hopefully, it won't be too late. We (you n me) know what kind of consequence our sons will have, with their gfs. You keep me posted, too. :)

The good news is, our AG made it to Norlfolk. He said, he got there around 1pm. All he's done was cry......he's home sick :(. Maybe he's handling this worse because he doesn't know, when he'll be home, next. Once he meets people and starts working, he'll do fine. By the weekend, I'll hear all about the fun stuff he's doing.......people he's meeting. When his bro comes back from sea duty, he can hang out with him. Well, after his bro comes back from his leave. It does give me a peace of mind, he has his bro.
I think it's a big slap in the face, for him. The whole vaca, he's been talking about how good AGs have it. 12hr shifts and a lot of sea time is finally sinking in. Maybe in his heart, he knew about it, but was in denial.

KYMom - I told our Sailor SGOT, is sea duty......he didn't believe me. He knows, it's sea duty now. The Enterprise is the ship, he's assigned to

jess23 - I will probabely never know what is really going on with him and the gf . One of his last letter from bootcamp was informing us she was going to be a part of his life no matter how we feel about her. Then I saw her out in town the next day and she was pointing to her ring finger saying they were getting engaged. I looked at her like she was speaking a foreingh language. His Dad and I said our peace in a letter before Graduation. So now he does not share anything about her . Not sure if that is a good thing or not . Keep me posted on your situation as well ! My son is 21 but acts more like 19.

Just remember what kymom said below . He is not married yet !! Engagement ring is only a ring for now ! My best advise is prayer! I have been praying for a long time over my son's GF .
