My daughter is there on the Truman and has been there since march. She loves it so far. She said the underway was hard and long hours but she sent lots of cool pics. She is an unassigned airman which is great because she can get training in different areas before she strikes for a rating.

Some of the sailors that PIR on 3/15 that went to Pensacola as PACT are shipping out to home or duty stations this Friday..so they were there for 4 weeks.Don't know if that time frame is normal but that's what happening with this group.

You're welcome. Yeah, it is hard to expect anything really as things change CONSTANTLY and so quickly. If you guys talked about his top 3 choices before he left then I would start doing research on those places beforehand. I would also encourage him to do his VERY best at BC because he would have a better chance of getting one of his 3 picks. My hubby got his second pick which is still great because we wanted to stay on the west coast! I helped my hubby a lot by finding out information on here and letting him know. I knew more than he did because they don't tell them much at all so share information you receive. He'll appreciate it!

Thank you @Rickysgirl23 I appreciate your advise, information, and encouragement. I am very new to all of this and want to be the best support system for my husband. It helps to know what I can expect. I like to hope for the best but plan for the worst. I want to be emotionally ready for delays, delays, delays. It also helps because we have our daughter and this further proves that I need to plan as if we would still be here the next school year.

xoxo mariana - Everyone's time at A-school is different so it's hard to tell you how much time he will really be there. His 4 weeks does not start until he classes up and he could be there a month before even starting. He has to get signatures when he gets there (he'll know what this is) and he won't even be considered for classing up until this is done so tell him to stay on it. too all joan is right that he would have to go through INDOC and a firefighting class before starting as well. It's really just a waiting game because it's not up to him when he goes to those either. My hubby found out where he was going to be stationed about a week before PIR. Stay positive for yourself and for him because the waiting game he has to go through is VERY frustrating.
