xoxo mariana my daughter was A-Pact too.  She PIR'ed from BC 12 28 and went straight to Pensecola.  She then graduated from A school on 2 1 and got to come home for 11 days leave before heading to her first duty station.  She had to go through an INDOC class and firefighting before she could class up.  Then she did have 4 weeks of A school.  While she was in Pensecola she found out where she would be going next.  I hope this helps you

I am reading alot on here that A school has been getting delayed for some sailors in P'cola...my hubby is set to go there after he completes BC, however he is in A-PACT, so he is doing training and not A-school...it is supposed to be 4 weeks long, is training the same thing as A-School?

Thanks for the info VBiggs.  This is very helpful.  My sailor is an AM and says it will be a couple of weeks before he begins his class, we hope.  It may take longer. In the meantime he is getting used to the surroundings.  I am hoping he won't be in Pensacola for that long.  I do look forward to when he will be coming home for a short visit before going to his duty station.

Hello All,

My sailor is in Pensacola now on hold. Does anyone know what causes the back up? Is this normal, my sailor will be on hold for about 2 months? I know there may not be an official answer.

Good Morning all,

My sailor is in Pensacola now waiting to class up.  He says it will be another couple of weeks.  He says they are being kept busy though and he will be allowed to wear his civilian clothes in another couple of weeks.  Looks like I may be going to Pensacola at the end May then for a visit.

Hope all are well!

Thanks for the info Monica13063.  I've been out to the Lodge in P'Cola several times.  My A Class school division had our weekend picnics out in that area.  Loved being there.  My daughters and I had planned on going to the Airport to spend whatever time we can with him before shipping off to A school.  I am so looking forward to it.  As soon as I can make my reservations to visit, I am going to book it!  Thanks again.

phloughb, yes, my son left for P'cola the day after PIR on Saturday, very early in the morning. They loaded him on the bus to leave RTC around midnight and we left our hotel around 0230 to go and meet him at the airport and see him once more before his flight left at 6am. There weren't as many parents/family at the airport as I expected, but I would recommend going if you can. He flew out of Midway. Also, I was lucky to get a room at Navy Lodge. I only did because someone cancelled and a room became available. I would make reservations as soon as you know when you are going to go. You can cancel them up to 6pm the day before (I was told by the fella that took my reservations), so it won't hurt to make them. Good price, and it's on the beach/base. (ummm...you proboably knew that from back in the 80's :)) https://www.navy-lodge.com/lodge_page.html?p_lodge_number=17

cappsangie, when did your son PIR?
