My son didn't advance either.  He made PO3 before he had been in a year but  nothing since and has been in 2 years next month.  I guess he is lucky he made it that far because it does give him some advantages.

hello....hello.....hello.... got a question.. why is it when you open up N4M's and your groups pop up it shows someone has been here in the last hour, oh i get all excited to see what has been going on, and nope no one here?  just confused. Anyway.

Sailor oh sorry Aircrewman is doing pretty good in his schooling.  scores are great and he is taking the extra study time after class for his tests.  I ask him, so are you going to study all weekend for your test on Monday?  and he says "no mom you can't take anything out of the classroom, just what you have in your head", oh ok so what is the test over? what are you learning about?  "well"... pause here  "this and that"  I guess when they are told to keep their mouths shut it includes to the Momma too.  that's ok I respect that. Just good to hear his voice anyway, just wish it was a little more now and the.  How's it going with your Aircrewman?

Yep...they have some freedom the first week.I won't post what he has shared and I know he won't be able to tell us everything about the second portion of the training. And, I'm just fine with that as it means he's obeying the rules and keeping things confidential. Good boy. :)

As for changing jobs....I know some are cross-rating to stay in the Navy when they cannot re-enlist in their own rate. It's not a given anymore that a person can just re-enlist. Now, 20 years ago the Navy did allow my first husband to re-enlist for a year until we had our second son.

Suzi wow i didn't know they could contact anyone that is wonderful you got to hear from your Sailor!  keep us posted on how he is doing and what  he thought of it.  I know my Sailor is sooo looking forward to SERE.

Claudia i never thought of it making their enlistment longer but that sure makes lots of sence.  Have they pulled out now?

Great words of advice Claudie.  wow did the time go quickly for him these past almost 4  years?  I was told, and please correct me if i'm wrong, that each sailor can apply for a new job after 2 years.  dune is just waiting to move to his next step in this adventure but has about 15 weeks left where he is at.   Was the ship that your Sailor is on affected by the last two quakes they have had there?  Oh those poor people..
Comment by Dunesmom on April 10, 2011 at 3:12pm

Oh Claudia what a change for Chip how does he feel about AS?  It sure has been a learning experience in all aspects of life for Dune and myself too.  I keep telling us that there is a reason.... don't get it some of the time but how else does everyone handle these events in lifehu?

Does your sailor plan on getting out after he puts in his # of years?
