I think that too Claudia.  It took me weeks to quite sobbing when he left for boot and then about a week before we went to watch his PIR i started all overagain, lol...when we got ahold of him in Pensacola he gave me that look of "don't be crying all over me in the barricks mom"  boy was that a hard one but made it though.  Got a nice call last night from him only bad thing was he can not get one more red mark or he is out of aircrew.  Guess it's going to be one long Aschool.  HOpe all is well with Everyone and thier Sailors!

I wondered if they would let the  his ship dock with all the contamination, still floating, yep that's good that they are close enough to help but not to close ya know.  Dune is doing good, have only talked to him once.  Guess that was enough time with mom and dad for him for a bit, lol... Me well i sniffle  now and then, yea i know it's only been a week but you know....He is in a good place other than one of the Petty's hateing his gutts, he is happy with his choices.  It was so interesting to me to hear him saying oh now we have to get off the beach at this time, not allowed to be there and you can't smoke here dad only over there that's the rules.... Responsible? wow what a change in just a few months.  Hope you hear from your Sailor soon.

Claudia is your Sailor still there?  I haven't watched the news in a while to see how things are going.  Hope all is safe.

Oh Dee isn't the proudness, is that a word?, so filling?  My heart feels so big when i think about what our kids and all the servicemen and women are doing.  Yep Proud Navy Mom too. just wish we could send big sqeezy hugs to them all the time.

Have a great day Eveyone!

Back from Pensacola and tried really hard to bring back sailor and nice weather.  neither on of them would get into the car, ratts.  Actually  my Sailor is pretty content in where he is at and what he is doing.  I do think it will be a hot one down there this summer.  Did some learning about what he is doing and a bit of a time line if things all work out just right, which i guess isn't offten with the Navy.  Always changing something but keeps every one on their toes i guess.   I'm off to do a bit more reading.  Hope all is well

Hi Claudia,

I don't know where he is being assigned yet. We are waiting on that now. I'm hoping for San Diego. That way, I can see him a lot more! I know... That is purely selfish! haha! But, He's my boy and I'm a Proud Navy Mom!

Thank you for the welcome!

Dunes - This might help......

"Navy enlisted sailors in the ratings of AD, AE, AME, AMH, AMS, AO, AT, and AW can volunteer for the Navy Enlisted Aircrew Program at any time during their careers (note: AW is an aircrew only rating, so you can't have that rating without being on aircrew status)."

Plus....you know how confused we all were when we first started. Some moms don't yet know that starting AWAT or INDOC, etc...is not classing up. And, on the flip side...you have those who are undes. and they fly through P'cola so they can get started figuring out where they will land. Also...there are so many differences between a lot of the rates. I have trouble keeping up with my son and no way can I understand all the rest, lol! Son knew his swimming skills had to be top notch and trained with SEALS before BC.

Dunesmom my son is an AT and he did not take the swimming school.  I would think that would depend on what their job is whether or not they had to take that class.  Have fun visiting your sailor.

goodemom Dunesmom is right there is never a stupid question.  We just learn as we go.  If you go visit your son while he is in Pensacola I would suggest locating the building that graduation is held in.  We were fortunate to be able to visit our son several times while he was in Pensacola and his room was right  next to where he graduated.  It is a big base and our first time we were driving right through a restricted area trying to locate our son.  He had not been out enough to know the names of the streets to tell us which ones to turn on once we got on base and there are so many buildings and parking lots.  I would describe a landmark on the base to him and he would say I don't know where that is.  It was actually funny before it was all over with but we eventually found him.  There were three vehicles of people driving through the base trying to locate him and we didn't have a clue where we were going.  Before he left we had it down and knew right where to go for everything.

goodemom my Sailor started (back) to A school yesterday too and there is never every a stupid question.  That's how we all learn and thank you for asking it cause i learned from it too:)

Ok here is my question  Do all Airmen take the swimming school?  I'm a bit confused as i see some Sailors are starting A school in a short time or maybe my Sailor took a bit longer in the swimming class.

I"m off to see my Sailor!!!! Will catch back up in about a week!

Take care everyone!
