For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by brandy on February 25, 2015 at 6:36pm: My husband(chef2navy comment) graduated bc in Sept. He went to Pcola immediately and classed up around Oct. He got to come home to Atlanta for thanksgiving and Christmas and was done in Feb. He was 3rd in his class I believe so he got 3choice when orders came up. It all depends how long it takes her to class up.

Comment by Sarah's Mom on February 25, 2015 at 5:42pm: Thank you so much for the information, r u saying that 20 weeks is all the training you get for Air Traffic Controller? that doesn't seem like much. but as u know i'm not to sure of anything except that she is going to Pensacola for sure.was wondering if she'll be there in the fall i'd like to go visit not sure when she'll be able to come home. I miss her so much. but i am looking forward to graduation. to hug and hold her again.

Comment by Chef2NavyAC on February 25, 2015 at 11:04am: Sarah's Mom, your daughter will be at school for approximately 20 weeks. However, she will probably wait a few weeks to class up. I was there a total of 5 months (with holidays in there as well). She will not go to C school directly after A school unless she goes on a boat and needs that additional training. If she goes to a shore facility, she will go directly there. There are a couple other exceptions but that's generally how it goes. So I wouldn't worry about info on c school but yes, if she does, it's in Pensacola as well. The school is very tough but if she can handle distractions well and keep her nose in the books, she'll do fine. Any other questions, feel free to ask! Hope this helps.

Comment by Sarah's Mom on February 25, 2015 at 9:27am: Good morning, My daughter Sarah will be leaving for A school March 21 right after graduation. i know we will get a few hours with her, i was wondering i believe her A school is 20 weeks she if going for Air Traffic Controller, will she be going to C school after that? and do u know if it is there in Pensacola and how long C school is. Also when would she find out all the information? sorry for all the questions i try to find out threw the websites, i've only talked to her 2 for 3 mins and received 2 letters. which i treasured, just trying to find out what ever i can after A school?

Comment by Chef2NavyAC on November 13, 2014 at 8:30pm: BearsMom, no worries! He will have plenty to do in a short amount of time. Granted, I was a lot older than most in my A School, but I loved my times "off". It allowed me to unwind, etc. He just got there, so he will have to wait to class up (which can take a while, especially around the holiday season). Until then, they will keep him busy with duty stations, etc. Tell him to enjoy it while he has it because once school starts, relaxation time is (or should) be reserved for the weekends (when there isn't a test on Monday to study for). Hope that eases your mind!
