Hello! I'm a prior AC in the Navy. I'm also a current Navy Spouse. I just wanted to say hi, and I'd be happy to answer any questions you guys have about school and the life of an AC.

Welcome to the group!!  My son is in Lemoore CA and loves being in the Navy.  He has now been in the Navy for 1 year and 2 months.  I am hoping to get out and see him in November, he came home in July for 9 days.  Thank God for cell phones, texting, and skype.  Keep the blue candle going!!  We have a Navy flag hanging from our house to honor him and all others!!  Keep in touch.

Hi Diane.  Thanks for the welcome!  I know exactly where Vermilion is as we're from Avon!!  We're practically neighbors!  My son signed on for 5 years but who knows beyond that.  He just turned 18 and is really excited about what The Navy has to offer.  I hope he gets shore duty but we have a long way to go before we get to that point.

Hello all~  new AC mom here.  Son just got to Pensacola (PIR 8/31/12) and is still waiting for AC school to begin.  Sounds like a really tough program so I'm praying my son is one of the 40% that get through it!!  Hoping to hear from some of the veteran AC moms as to where their sailors ended up (duty station.)  We're from Ohio and I can't recall any duty stations in the immediate area!  THanks~

My Lifesong Sings - yes. My son is CA for Air Traffic Controller and loves it.  He has been traveling on the weekends to LA, Vegas, San Diego, and a few parks.  My parents are on their way now to visit him for the weekend.  I can't wait for the pictures!!  Enjoy

Theresa's Mom - has your daughter had problem with asthma?  My son had to get cleared on his childhood asthma BEFORE the navy would even accept him.  He went to boot camp with a bad cough and STILL has it.  He has been tested 3 or 4 times in boot camp for asthma and the tests were all negative.  I don't understand....are they having him sit around and wait for it to turn into asthma.  I have bad allergies and I get allergy induced asthma - which I actually have right now along with a sinus infection.  I just don't understand why they are holding him and if it is because of his cough why haven't they treated him or explained to him the exact reason why he is in holding.  Do you know how many times they will test your daughter before her Waiver is clear?  My son has no idea what they are doing with him and so far he has not been retested.

calbransmommy - thanks for the info.  My son is under the impression AC school only starts once every 4 months.
